Thanks! I wish I could get a better picture of it, it's gorgeous and plays so nice I can't believe it!

I'm so jealous of all you guys that can play. My synapses from brain to fingers aren't that synchronized that I could ever do that.
And to you guys that can play and BUILD the guitars, hats off to you!

I'll play..

When I was a kid I was in a series of bad garage bands... we played badly in some local bars.. Then I realized I needed to make a living..

This guitar was released way back then, and I always lusted after it but could not afford it...
Fast forward to two years ago.. I found it for sale on Reverb... and said eff it... and dropped some coin...

1978 Ibanez artist, Randy Scruggs edition... It was over 3K... I really wanted the double cut Bob Weir model.... but those command a 1-2K premium over the Scruggs..

Now all I need to do is find a vintage Mesa-Boogie to complete the package..

Scroll down here to see a guitar I know zilch about. Puzzled me that a cue dealer would list a guitar. Is Taylor a good brand?

I'm reading great things about Santa Cruz Parabolic Tension Strings. Their guitars look really nice, too.

Don’t know anything about their strings but their guitars are amazing. Unfortunately their prices now days make even a top of the line Martin seem cheap and when you think about an acoustic guitar not really soundings it’s best until it’s about 20 years old or older, makes me glad I got mine when I did

As are these. I bought one for a new acoustic. Left it on a week. Couldn’t detect a difference and if there is one, I’m certain it’s temporary

Just brought this home. Martin 000-28ec. Only new one I could find was in Los Angeles until I discovered this one 5 miles from my house. My last acoustic I think.

There are torrified cue shafts being sold now...touted as lower deflection shafts. Players always looking for an edge, when actually there is little substitute for talent combined with good instruction and practice-practice-practice. Probably the same with guitar skill...

https://www.pooldawg.com/hsunami-pool-cue-shaft

Torrification is a proven process (instrument/Guitar builders have used it for soundboards and guitar tops to great effect) involving the use of a high-temperature kiln to mimics the effects of natural aging and drying. The accelerated drying process actually changes the cellular structure of the wood by releasing around 95% of the sugars and moisture inside the shaft. Removing those natural elements lightens the shaft and closes off the wood cells to stiffen as well. These are very desirable properties when creating a low-deflection shaft!

I got a GPC-16e Rosewood and I couldn't be happier. It's amazing all the YouTube videos that are out there to teach you how to play anything well known. I went to Danville Music (in Danville, CA) to get some strings and they are awesome. I just picked up a Peterson clip-on strobe tuner on their recommendation today. I want to spend a million dollars there- all I need is the million dollars. I still have a Takamine F-400 12 string "lawsuit guitar" I bought new from a shop in Westwood when I went to UCLA in the late 70s. I left it with them to check out and re-string. I was sold on it when they told me the Eagles toured with it. I think that was actually true.

Last time I was there they had a Santa Cruz dreadnought. That thing was a monster.

Congratulations. New guitar day is may favorite day of the year. I feel your excitement.

Now you get to go through the process of figuring out what strings will work best. When I got my Martin the store put on Martin flex core tommy Emanuel strings. He said they are the best strings he every used, even gave me a free set. I hated them……if you watch how tommy plays (very forcefully with thumb pick) you can see why he likes them and I don’t. Felt like telephone wires. I just got some john pierce phosphor bronze slightly light. (11- 50). I thought I would hate these being so light. No. The guitar was transformed into a vibrating beast and so easy to play

Enjoy

Don’t forget to register it

This is interesting, I didn’t check the serial number at the store when buying mine because they are a Martin dealer…. Got home and was registering it and looked up the serial number found out mine was built in 2001! Whoa. I’m guessing the store owner liked it and set it aside. It was brand new and never registered and I called Martin and they confirmed it was sold to this store in 2001 and never registered until I did. Im actually thrilled because I got an unplayed guitar with 21 year old wood and glue which is a good thing (so long as it was stored right which it seems to have been)
