Night flying Helicopter - no navigation lights?

At my old house I was sound asleep, late at night and I was awakened by the sound of the local police helicopter close by. I was still trying to figure what was going on, and all of sudden, my bedroom was as bright as daytime.

One on my neighbors had a police scanner, and he said they were looking for some driver that ran from the cops after armed robbery of a gas station, and the guy bailed out of his car and was running on foot. They were lighting up house with bushes close to the house that the perp may have been hiding behind.

It was truly astonishing how bright my room was with the four windows balsted with light. Two windows on two walls and curtains drawn, no sleep. Evidently the cops captured the guy a few houses away from mine. I hope they punched him a few times extra times for interrupting my beauty sleep.
