There might be some rust under all of that. Be prepared. You might be able to convert it and oil to slow it down.
Peeks Polish, Barkeepers Friend, or WD-40? Most posters recommended Autosol (and tinfoil? but that would probably scratch) https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1685639 "NEVER, EVER use a polish on chrome that contains ammonia because Ammonia dissolves chrome" https://www.answers.com/Q/Can_you_use_ammonia_on_chrome

If there is a appliance repair shop near by, you know the one with all the old appliances in the yard; contact them and see if they have used parts. You never know.

Dang chemistry. I dunno whether these were chromed seventy years ago when they were new but I certainly do not expect to find a nice chrome finish underneath all that burnt crud. So I guess I'm not afraid of using ammonia. Heck...it might be best if it does eat off all the chrome.
Then again, oven cleaner ought to work.

Yeah, I refurbished this stove a year ago or so and needed some parts. They can be found, I suppose. But I just want to get these clean.

LOL. I wonder if Shaun has cerakote'd his garden tools.
Perhaps I will snap a pic of this stove when I am there next. It's electric. It would have been something of a Cadillac in 1953. About a yard wide, four burners and a pancake grill. I looked into just replacing it (with gas, which this house has) but the dimensions of a new one would fk up the counter it is set into, which is old school tile built around this stove. 25 drawers and nearly a dozen wide cabinets in this kitchen. Galley shape. Best kitchen I have ever cooked in.

This^^^^^^. The fumes created by the ammonia in the bag is what does the cleaning. Let it set out in the sun all day.
