What Is This Thing Called?

For the life me I cannot think of what these are called…those articulating, “swing-arm” clamps which are threaded on one end - with this threaded end fitted with a thumb screw…so when this threaded end is swung into a “receiver plate,” the thumbscrew is then tightened until the appropriate (desired) locking force is achieved. Anyone?

Are you describing Kant Twist clamps?

Nope (but thanks!).

The receiver plate features a v or u shaped open end, into which the threaded shaft with thumbnut is swung, then the thumbnut tightened against the bottom flange of the receiver plate. Hmmm...maybe I'll draw a picture and post it.

I think that'll help a lot.

Here it is! I knew I had something around someplace with this type of locking mechanism…here in the form of my old Leitz tripod leg-clamp accessory:

But what I need is something which operates on this principle, to replace a “fixed adjustment” hook and eye scenario. Here is my application...for our cute/lovable (and sometimes naughty) rescue-up, Lena:

I have crafted, from plywood, foam, and faux leather, a doggie seat, which fits into the otherwise rather uncomfortable rear seat-wells of my 944:

The doggie seat sets upon two carefully shaped plywood panels, each affixed via. existing seatbelt bolts. Currently, the seat is held down with two hook and eye locks - which to work effectively need to be adjusted exactly, but the adjustment of the whole “system” tends to deviate over time, and it would be great if I could tighten things down a bit more.

Here’s the kicker: yes, I could simply install angle brackets to make this more solid…but I like the idea of being able to quickly unclip/remove the doggie seat, thus the need for a mechanism which allows such easy removal, and also allows for some adjustment to clamping force.

At any rate…any ideas? Thanks!

I think that is called a split block clamp.
For the pup, why didn't you just fold down the rear seat backs?

Best

I use this. It goes from truck to car. He's very comfortable in it like a crate. Holds him in place too but he's never ridden in the 911. He doesn't like getting tossed around violently
