Found a nice sandblasting shop, kind of a while you wait place
Got four wheels blasted inside and outside in about 45 mins. I think it's actually called "Quick Blasting shop"
Nice guys, this the second set I've gotten done.  Latter same day, I got them all painted except the two with tape are waiting for final clear coat. Coulda finished but had to pick up kids at school, make supper, and wash my wife's car, make the beds etc Just thought you might this interested  BTW sure hate shops that say, yeah we can do, leave them and come back in three weeks, or 3 months, or three years |

Didn't know you would want to sand blast them with the rubber still on....

That is a great service to know about. I wonder if there's one of those where I live.
I watched some guy use a deck of playing cards to mask off the tires from the wheels. Brilliant. It took a very few minutes to do a perfect job. It might take a few decks of cards to do both sides of a set of four wheels but that's why we have dollar stores.

A couple years ago now, I was helping a friend run an errand in a very rural part of my county, where we came upon a sandblasting and painting crew working on the small town's water tower. They had a monster sandblasting rig and just so happened that day they were painting the water tower with an epoxy "mid coat" in white.
Brief negotiations ensued, and a couple hours later I was back with the 4 wheels to my 66 VW bus. Sandblasted from about 10 feet away, hung by wire on the front of a bobcat and shot with epoxy "mid coat" white from about 4 feet away. Left overnight to cure and I picked them up the next day. Best $100 I've spent on my old bus project. And since the county gets my tax dollars didn't bother me one bit. Last edited by SCadaddle; 04-26-2022 at 07:46 PM.. |

Had a shop like that in Sylmar (near L.A.) like that, back in the 70's & 80's for over 20 years. They'ed sandblast a Formula Ford frame while you wait, in 30 minutes, for $50. Now sadly they're gone. You'd probably be breaking several Federal, State, County & City laws if you sandblasted in an open-air stall.
