Nobody remembers the flash?

Think the color has something to do with attracting more attention?
I have a Viper Green stripped out track car for the street. Painted when I did all the work. Everyone want to have a look when I drive it. My red 930, not too much but many people do noticed. The Black 993 TT, only a few will look. I think it has something to do with the color. No one notice the black Cayman S if it hit them. |

Like unclebilly my 76 always gets comments filling up. Even more so with the 356. They can’t believe it’s almost 60. Both have their original full leather interior that people will even stick their head in the window and comment on the smell.

H2O 911 are common place around here and frankly nobody waves or flashes lights. When I am riding I am happy to throw the peace sign to fellow motorcycles including the domestic brand who ignore non domestic. Included in my wave are air cooled 911 and they have reciprocated a few times. If I see a air cooled 911 at gas fill up I will walk over and complement. Damn I want one again, 2 years is my timeframe.

I really don't see many aircooled 911s around here anymore
![]() But it was quite funny I guess. I was in a parking building and saw a sweet looking baby blue mid years 911 and gave the guy a great big wave and smile. He kinda looked at me and gave me quarter of a nod of acknowledgment. Then I realised I was in the corolla LOL |

You all might find this hard to believe, I get only occasional recognition when I’m out in the 911. When I drive my Alfa Romeo, 9 out of 10 times I get some reaction. This amazes me still. I just did not expect it.

The funniest thing (to me) I've had happen was during a trip to visit my brother, I'm watching this car in my mirror coming up from way behind me at a pretty good rate of speed and thinking "damn that's a sweet looking car." As the driver pulls even with me he's giving me the thumbs up. These cars are an icon. Probably one of only two things I'll really miss about owning one.
I had a turbo'd water breather 911 pull up beside me, give me the thumbs up, rev the engine and blow by me once too.

I do..
Amazingly, I get the same looks driving my 944s, kinda shocked me that anyone would notice. Even today while driving to breakfast, I had a guy in a Mustang convertible, come up next to me and give a thumbs up.

Funny story, the PO of my car installed H4's but not the relay. It fried the high/low beam stalk to the point it was stuck on high beam. It would not pass inspection.
About a week ago I installed the Webb relay from PP to take the voltage out of the stalk, but the switch was fried to the point where I had to tease it apart. I was able to separate high/low beam (to get it to pass inspection), but now I can't flash high beam by itself. I lost the flash. I now feel like a douche not being able to respond when people do 'the flash' thing. ![]() Edit- unless you are talking about hot chicks flashing me - because that happens daily too..... ![]() It was always an adventure towing my car on race weekends on an open trailer with all the photos, videos, and people not paying attention to their lane limits...

I live in central BC . 911's are far and few between. I was driving over a mountain pass , highway 24 to be exact. crested a hill at the summit , 1311 meters , and met an entourage of many oncoming modern Porsches with lights flashing and arms waving. I drive a stock 88 911 and was elated with the experience of that moment in remote obscurity. I never thought that would happen in a million years on that remote highway and it remains a fond memory of a great day.

Chicks dig the 914
I get a lot more women complimenting me on the 914 than when driving a 911 or 997/1. 911's are more of a guy thing. Aircooled guys wave, watercooled it's 50/50, but I also never see a SUV guy/gal wave.

Used to get compliments all the time in the stop-n-go traffic on the highway driving home from work. Girls, guys, young and old. Had one guy yell out "Its a Rennsport!" all smiles and waving at me. Didn't have the heart to yell back "it's a clone".

I may have previously mentioned it...
But I liked it when the little boy stopped dead in his tracks and pointed at the SC and said "Racing car!" |
