After 21 years I've had many compliments and conversations with strangers about my 86 911. All good.
The best one (by far) was I was driving on a 4 lane road and a sport bike zips past me and slows to my speed just ahead of me. I look up and see a girl with tight jeans and a jacket that leaves the small of her back showing. She turns to look at me with a huge smile and gives me a thumbs up. She was about as cute as they come. She looked ahead for a sec and then looked back at me with her big smile, waves, and pulls away.
I have to admit, although she was probably 30 years younger than me, I was smitten.

Funny, a week ago I was up in Edmonton with my family in the wife’s Cayenne and I saw a beautifully restored Volkswagen 1500, fender flares, mags, exhaust, perfect paint. When we got to a light I rolled down the windows and told the young couple what a beautiful car it was.

Their smiles were contagious.

My '87 3.2 still gets lots of attention when I take it out, especially from drivers of other "collector" cars and from younger drivers of modified Japanese and German cars. Interestingly, the car is largely ignored by drivers of newer Porsche cars and especially by drivers of Porsche SUV's.

Well, my 911 is a shiny black car with gold rims (replica cup1's) and a not very quiet exhaust (Fabspeed euro premuffler and Dansk 1-in-2-out, 84mm) so it might attract some attention even if it wasn't a classic Porsche.

One of the best moments from this weekend's drive was passing a Cobra replica as he was pulling onto the road. I revved my (loud) exhaust in greeting and he did the same. We gave each other a wave at the next stoplight - I was turning while he was going straight.
