In which country would you vacation for a month?
If you had the time and money, that is.
I’m thinking the Philippines because it’s affordable and most Filipinos can speak some English. I was born there but my family left almost 50 years ago so I don’t remember much about my homeland. I am concerned about safety though. I can still understand the main language so if anyone’s plotting against me, I’ll know as long as they speak slowly, lol. Where would you vacation? |

One of the women that works for me is Filipina. I have know here for 20 years - we worked together in the government.
She is from Macabebe, Pampanga, Philippines. She still has a house there and lots of relatives. Before CV-19, would travel to the Phillipines once a year for a month. She has not been able to travel there since CV. You may want to check on that. As much as I love the Philippines I have spent a lot of time there and would prefer to travel to a country I have never been to...I totally get why you would want to go, btw. I have been getting serious about a long trip to Vietnam...I need to put a stake in the ground and make a decision.

Since it covers several countries: The Alps
I've been to Alp locations in Switzerland (or Swiss lund as my mother says), Germany, Austria and Italy. Very nice and peaceful in all 4 seasons. But for now I'm staying here until people regain their sanity re: covid, vax papers, tests, quarantines and on and on

Thailand.
easy decision. easy to communicate i last time i spent a month there, i ended the month with more money in my account. i spent less there on vacation, than i typically do living regular at home. haha. i would snorkle and fish all day long..and i would ship in a mtn bike.

Phillipines no doubt.
Been several times and would go back anytime, except now! Wifey just got back from there a couple months ago and it is a covid mess.

The list is long.
Japan - I've lived there, many years ago, and would love to go back. English is a required language in school for many years. Everyone may not understand you or converse well, but they can probably read English well enough and are likely to bend over backward to be helpful. Any of the countries in the UK+Ireland, especially since you can visit between them all. Most of Europe, especially since you can easily travel between the various countries.

Never been to New Zealand, so that's my pick. Covid canceled my planned trip there with 3 days notice in March of '20.
I've been to 38 countries.....Fav's are anywhere in the Alps, Tahiti, Australia, Croatia and Spain.

no gas, i wasnt eating out in California, or going to clubs, watching movies.. we live in hostels, and with people. a meal in Thailand was damn near free. i took $300 US out of the ATM and i kid you not..it made that ATM sound for like 5 minutes. i took a WAD out of the machine. i felt like a Soprano. wife and i met a family of 5 from LA. we ate noodles together, with copious sides. the bill came out to $11. i called dibs on the bill.

I grew up in the Philippines so yeah... 1 month there.
Maybe 1 month in Aus or NZ... Maybe 1 month in Western Europe, sorry not a country, but you know, you can get to most of the EU by train. |

Saw this recently on a travel show. A multi day trek around the Matterhorn. They have huts at strategic locations with food available and will shuttle your bags (that you don't carry) to the next nights destination.
Hell yeah! https://www.zermatt.ch/en/Media/Planning-hikes-tours/The-Matterhorn-Trek

I left the down under (Oz and NZ) off my list, but they should definitely be on the list. That's the great thing about going someplace for a month, is that you would be crazy not to visit other nearby stuff while you're there.

Inexpensive? Thailand. Spent several weeks there. Lots of different things to see and do and the dollar goes a very long way
