Didn’t know this before I bought them but there are Class 1,2 &3 eBikes regulated by states based on top speed Class 2 is 20 mph, class 3 is 28 mph, needs battery and pedal assist. You can change from 2-3 with a simple program change on this bike.
|
How are these as regular bikes if the battery goes dead and you have to do all the work?
How many speeds is it? |
|
7 speed heavy about 70 pounds I haven’t tried but I wouldn’t want to pedal uphill without the battery.

Folded and unfolded in a plastic tote, easier for two people to pickup and stuff into the back of our Jeep Grand Cherokee without buggering up the bikes or the vehicle. Not my idea but from YouTube. |
Umm, with the bike folded you could even take it on public transport to some interesting place and ride back on the scenic route.

I have a Rad Rover 6+ that I purchased last September. I have about 500 miles on it so far with no issues. The factory seat was horrible and I upgraded to a CB seat and Sun Tour suspension post. The bike is heavy! I use it primarily for commuting between my cottage and the marina and for errands less than 10 miles round trip. It’s a fat tire beast that handles sand well and does well on trails as well, although, I don’t do much trail riding. If I were buying it again, I’d probably get the step through version because it’s a lot easier mount. I’m 6’1” with a 32” inseam and I can manage the swing over the frame but the step through would be easier. Cost was about $2000 and I’ve also accessorized with front and rear racks and other stuff adding a couple $100 more. Very happy with the purchase. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655136382.jpg

Both have alarms, and I also keep them locked up in my garage.

After owning one for a month, I just ordered another Gen 3 Stride.
Their sale is still on for anyone interested. Using their coupon code on checkout, your cost will be $999 w/free shipping plus a complimentary accessory bundle. No sales tax either unless you're a Washington state resident, I guess. I've been taking rides on the beach here - I think they are around 9 miles but will have to double check. I'm still not sure how to set the odometer - but just haven't really cared that much I'm having so much fun. Hugh: you are going to LOVE your beach rides! I'll probably just leave this second bike in it's box for now. Just wanted to get a second while the sale was on. Especially now that I'm sure that I like this particular model so much. You can read up on the bike here: https://gen3ride.com/electric-bikes/the-stride-step-thru-electric-bike/ And here is a review from an independent party: <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/t6zalE2jE9A" title="GEN3 The Stride Review | Electric Commuter Bike (2021)" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe> The only changes I made are a different seat, added a bar end mirror, and a speaker holder on the handlebar so I can play tunes while riding - which for me is very important! |

Baz, Nice get!! Installed baskets. We’re at Carpinteria State Beach (Santa Barbara County) for four nights. Tricked them out with key fob alarms, phone holders, flat combo locks, and mirrors. Used knurled knob bolts on the baskets for easy removal, you can’t fold them with the baskets in-place. |
Very nice accessory work, Hugh! Look forward to future reports on your experiences!
16 mile low tide beach ride for me this morning. Lifeguard training for youths plus 3 different surf schools going on plus all the usual "Life's a Beach" content..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655742063.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655742063.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655742063.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655742063.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655742063.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1655742063.JPG |
Did my 3rd ride of the week this morning. 16 miles like on Monday. Tuesday it was 19 miles. Still loving this bike!
BTW....I noticed Gen 3 has lowered their sale price just until the end of the month. All bikes are only $899 and with the one I bought, you still get the bundle thrown in ($100 value)! Looks like The Stride and The Groove are currently the only 2 not sold out. No affiliation - just passing it along. Hell of a deal! https://gen3ride.com/ |
Another 20 miles on the beach today - finally far enough to kill the battery :)
I used pedal assist probably 85-90% of the time but it was a bit breezy today so guess there was enough wind resistance to zap more of the charge. Luckily I was only about a mile from home so just dropped the gear shifter down into 3rd and pedaled away - no worries. Beach was freaking packed today too - being a Sunday. Tell you what - buying this bike was one of the best decisions I've made since the Volvo 850. I have to also add that without the stereo on my handlebars, it wouldn't be half as much fun, either. Stoked! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1656270632.JPG |
Watched the vid, BAZ, I like it, but I wanted folding, to stuff in my Grand Cherokee. Also mine can be changed on the display to Class 3 in a few seconds. Its much boxier than yours, but similarly equipped.
Used ours as grocery getters this morning with the front basket on one, and rear basket on the other. |

I just wanted to share the info in case it was any help for others here. That option to go to Class 3 is very cool - something mine doesn't have. Don't forget to add a portable speaker for your beach rides. It's amazing how much more fun it is when you have some tunes going! I have a knock-off Go Pro camera I need to figure out how to use and when I do will post some riding vids. Should be fun! SmileWavy |
How's it going with your RV repairs and new bikes, Hugh?
Check in when you get a sec! SmileWavy Wanted to mention in case it's of any interest I've been experimenting with a few different seats for my Stride and so far the YLG you see in the photos below has been the most comfortable. Most of my riding is on the beach, so maybe factor that in. My usual run is about 16 miles. I have some other brands on my other bikes including a Bikearoo on my regular beach cruiser peddle bike, but for some reason it wasn't as comfortable as this one on my Stride. I know it looks kinda dorky but who cares? I don't - because I'm out there jamming with my tunes and having a freaking blast! :p Here is the Amazon link to the seat....it's showing $33.99 for me right now: YLG Oversized Comfort Bike Seat Comfortable Replacement Bike Saddle Memory Foam Soft Bike Saddle Waterproof Universal Fit Bicycle Seat for Women Men http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1657844793.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1657844793.JPG |

I have the Grizzly from Aerial for a couple months now and likt it vary much Its more moped then a bike. Dual motor and it accelerates quickly in and out of traffic when needed. I ride it to some of my job sites that are close by my home now and then, 5-8 miles or easy ride with little traffic.
