good experience with online glasses/lens vendors?

The missus and I are going to be getting new glasses soon. Our ins co will pay what they will pay for frames every other year and lenses every year. We'll be getting some sort of update, I'm sure. But, We'd like to have two or three pairs of glasses and sunglasses total (probably 3 for me, and maybe 2 for her).

I've got frames, so would only need lenses for them. I could send them in to have them installed and ensure they fit and are "right".

Has anyone used any of the online vendors that seem to be more inexpensive than a brick and mortar place? If so, have you had good or bad or both experiences? Customer service, issues resolved, good quality, etc...?

Zenni...their app for fitting your face is just as good as a walk in store.

Just have your eye exam results handy.

I’ve had good luck with Costco for new lenses. Walk in and measure in a few minutes,

Costco is WAY WAY cheaper than every other store store. Frames are typically $125 and the lens package includes scratch resistance, anti-glare, progressive magnification, blah blah. Altogether, out the door for $218.

Wife does not have bifocals or progressives, so she orders glasses from Warby Parker (online). Loves them. Has a massive collection. I like nerdy girls, and that's what she is.

Zenni for inexpensive Ti frames and nice lens options.

After feeling raped by Lindberg costs for their Ti options (and a simple lens replacement) this was a great find for me.

Two votes for Zenni. Thanks. Wifey will need frames, I've got plenty of frames and will only need lenses. Rodenstock makes the frames for Porsche. I've got two great pairs of glasses, and lost a third from them, all Ti and very light weight (most important for me and my comfort).

Wow, that's a great price!

The missus and I both wear progressive lenses which are generally more expensive.

+ 1 for Zenni. They did good for me. I wish I had taken more time selecting frames but the ones I got are not bad. They have so many frames it is hard to pick one.

Pretty sure Zenni does not sell lenses separately.

If anyone has a lens only option I would like to know too.

My buddy who is an opthamologist (did I spell that right???) and teaches new ones, sent me to Zenni.

He’s an international expert. Probably a good recommendation.
