Yeah, that's what comes up for me too. Can't figure out how it would work. Good reviews though.

Yep, I was gonna reccomend that exact brand.
We have one of those that cut the lid off from the side also and my wife loves it, I absolutely hate it!!!
Can't go wrong with the Swing Away.

I've tried that one and had moderate success.

I believe that one is used for kicking the can.

Had to look. The one we use is an OXO

BTW, if you think that thing reviews well, you should look at the reviews for the banana slicer!

This.

We regularly find these at garage sales for less than a dollar and sell them on ebay for $20. They work very, very well and when kept clean, will last a lifetime. Problem is, people open cans of fruit or tomatoes and the sugar gums up the blades (which are supposed to turn) and then they don't work. When they don't work, they get bent because people force them. The USA ones are stainless so just rinse them after use if you get food on them. But you have to buy used since the new ones are Chinese that rust just looking at them.

She has already complained about a couple we've had that took part of the label off with it so i guess we're back to the old style Swing Away types.

The American plant that made Swing Aways is making the same thing under a different brand. I wish I knew that before I bought the Chinese one.

Apparently, both are manufactured by the same people...but sold by both (prices differ).

Im definately going to be looking for a swing a way for a backup. Our electric one crapped out and we bought a few new ones that were so bad we brought them back. Found this old one at a garage sale for 2 bucks and have been using it the last ten years. It was a under mount i made the hairpin legs for it. Sometimes it needs dissabling to clean and adjust. But they certainly dont make things like they used to and appliances has to be at the top of that list.

I remember when I worked at an Italian restaurant. We opened up big cans of tomatoes, olives, etc.

Which reminds me, I used to cut the pepperoni on one of those electric slicing machines. I think I ate as much as I stored for later that night. Cheese too.

We have broken more can openers than I care to count. The can opener that I use most often is on my 40 year old Swiss Army knife...

Holy Moley, those pics are going to hit the web just like your lawn mower. Nice job!

Used that type when I worked at Pizza Hut many moons ago to open large cans of tomato paste. Raise it up and drop it onto the top of the can and crank away!!!
