Headlamps
anyone use these? I could use radiant light but also a spotlight.

No direct experience - but there are lots of options on Amazon that are cheaper.

We have started using something similar for those who works nights on highways and bridges.
Not cheap... but much more usable light than the spot style headlamps.. additionally the workers are much more visible to traffic. |
You want to wear a ball cap with a head light like that. Keeps the glare down.

I have one and its really annoying if you work around others as the glare just pisses people off. I work in the task lighting world and beam with a soft even spread (no bright center spot) are my preference.

I have four pair. They are the best. No specific recommendation since mine are all different.

Read the other thread of not, get a Zebra Light and be done with it. My recommendation is to get their light with a floor beam. This is for working not seeing great distances. I have both, a standard and a flood beam. I grab the flood beam light 95% of the time. I like the rechargeable 18650 batteries but they make one that run on AA. It isn't as bright, run time is less but its smaller. Within a minute, you wouldn't even notice its there. Elastic bands are replaceable, so are many small parts. Wash your hair with it on, it aint gonna hurt nothin'

Indispensable. I wouldn't be without it. They say old folks like me need many times the lumens in order to see what we could see in dim light at 20 years old. I use one like this. The lens rotates so that it can disperse widely or focus more narrowly and brightly, and it also tilts.

I need one for two reasons: buffing door frames and working on the cars. Did the driveshaft support bearing on the Cayenne last weekend, really could have used one then and planned on needing one for new front wheel bearings on the BMW today. Didn't need it, incredibly easy job, took less than an hour, but definitely will be going through the old thread and this one to get at least 2 for different jobs. Good stuff.

Christmas gift last year from my son...used it today working on a tractor. There are many choices and I don't think you can go wrong. For my cars, I have battery powered ones, unopened in the glove box, for the tire change at 11pm. |
