Can you surf twitter without an account?

My wife follows a few authors on twitter. She does not have an account, but has always been able to periodically delete cookies for twitter which would allow her to surf for a while.

Twitter seems to have made a change in the last week where you cannot even surf if you aren't logged in. I'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to get around that limitation. The wife has no interest in creating an account, but would like to be able to follow a few peoples posts.

I have a twitter account. I have to follow any accounts that I want to see updates...they are emailed to me.
Any others...I need to search through the website.

Starting an account is easy..the only time I hear from them is with contacts I follow.
