GC is a mess wrt cases. But on the upside, they do have some ridiculous sales on nice NOS cases once in a while. I got one for an EVH Wolfgang for $29 (twenty nine) and it was brand new. They're $209 at SW now. They also are a mess with whammy bars. So many get stolen, that they don't display guitars with them, which means they'll inevitably be mixed up with all the others and a buyer would really have to know what to look for in determining if they got the right one before they left the store.

Think of an Alembic Bass, that was the style i made.. The body was a ***** to shape because of the maple.... It had a tung oil satin/matte finish.. And DiMarzio PAF humbuckers coil tapped and wired for every combination possible.. Unfortunately it met a horrible demise at a gig when it got knocked over and the headstock broke off |
In my case, the missing case wasn’t GC fault. For some stupid reason, Yamaha does not sell the SA2200 in the USA with a case…I guess to keep cost down…..I bought a Mono Vertigo case for it after the guitar arrived. My beef with GC was with the way they packed it……tossed a beautiful hollow body guitar in a thin box with no packing material and one strip of tape…after assuring me that they would carefully secure it..the Fed Ex guy even commented it was a miracle it arrived in one piece

Another Guitar Center scam story...
There was another (used) PRS hollow body that caught my eye...I was playing the guitar and giving it a thorough once over when I noticed that under the PRS signature on the headstock, someone had used a black marker to obscure the SE I brought the guitar to the counter and asked about why the SE was obscured...They looked like deer in the headlights... Now did someone pull something over on the store?, or did a store employee do it to so they could sell an entry level guitar as a premium model? |
No Dealing with Guitar Center...
But can say, every interaction with Sweetwater and Wildwood have been above exceptional. Even when they would not sell and ship me a guitatr to Canada to respect dealers up here. Had great conversations with my reps there, and totally get it. Cheers |
I’ve bought 2 guitars from Wildwood. The first was a 2005 COY Rickenbacker and they contacted me prior to shipping to disclose a very slight imperfection they discovered. That was nice. The second, I bought a rare Gretsch 1 of 25 made and it came with a broken tuner. They said they would send a replacement and 7 years later im still waiting for it…..took care of it myself. Wouldn’t stop me from buying again…they have a great selection
Chicago Music Exchange is another store I’ve bought a lot of stuff from and had a good experience but Sweetwater has become my go to. |
I picked up a Time Traveler delay pedal with Flux Capacitor...

There is a pile of hype around sub $400 EART guitars.
Has anyone here played one? I’m sorta wanting a Classic 50s Tele but one of these might scratch that itch and the cost is amazing. Apparently they stand behind them too. |
I have many Prestigue guitars, and love their passion. I love the business, their team, and the fact that they are a 40 min drive away makes it even better. I have one of their first Custom Shop Guitars. But this time, I really wanted them to create something that was unique. A true one of one....
Worked closely with Mike and the team at Prestige Guitars to create this one in their custom shop. Told them about my visit and attendance at the Boys Rebublic School fundraiser dinner and auction for the Steve McQueen Foundation. We went back and forth on the renderings, and even had some team members visit our shop to get a sense of what I was after, and my passion for the brand and it's heritage. This is the result. I still have not picked it up, as they want to do a "presentation" of sorts.... Gives me anxiety.... :) They are so committed/concerned that it met my expectations.... Ummm, ya, it does. It is the same "model" as my previous custom shop guitar they created for me, so I expect the same playing experience. But this one will likely hang on the wall in our reception area at Turn3 Autosports for a good part of its life as I don't want to risk harming it.... :) But here it is... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1706588390.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1706588407.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1706588526.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1706588555.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1706588714.jpg Cheers |
Holy moly I don't know what to say.
That is one beautiful axe and the close up shots really feature the craftsmanship. Well done! |
That came out great! It'll look terrific in your reception area!

Beyond the renderings I signed off on. Epic instrument. I actually get chills looking at it. Cheers |
Jeff… that is one gorgeous guitar. Absolutely stunning.

^^^^ Thank you!

Anyone know anything about Fender Vintage II 1972 Telecaster Thinline reproductions? I had a Telecaster long ago, and am looking at a used one (for no good reason since I can't play at all)...
|
Jeff, that is a beautiful piece of art.
I can't help thinking about how cool a 917 looked after a race: bugs, rock chips, rubber bits and maybe racer tape. I may be a Phillistine, but how does it play? Best Les |
Thanks Les,
Next day I am free to pick it up is Feb 7th. Those are the pics they sent me of it. There is more to their story about the build that I won't learn until I pick it up. I have an almost identical custom shop Walnut version so I suspect this one will play the similar, though I may not play it much. I "play guitar" but am far from a "guitarist" if that makes sense. So, in my hands I am sure it will make seem better than I am lol. I love my accoustic Prestige guitars as well, smooth, easy to play, amazing sound. Cheers |
Jeff, I understand your "play guitar " statement perfectly. I play enough to back up ( or drown out) my voice. I tell folks I'm not a fast guitar player, I'm not a slow guitar player. I'm a half-fast guitar player. :D
Suggestion: tune it to open G so every now and again you can just reach up and coax the opening riff of Honky-tonk Wonan out of it. All the best Les |
Les,
Exactly, sounds like a good plan! Cheers |
