I'm a big Tele convert now. I bought a set neck FMT tele with a carved body earlier this year, and it now my go to guitar, the neck is just amazing... though it did have a few frets that were not snipped short enough and ends left a little sharp. I dressed them, with a diamond file and all is good..

And I have a few nice guitars to chose from..my previous fave was a PRS "Pauls" guitar.

Willie's "Trigger" is a 1969 Martin N-20. Norman's Rare Guitars would be able to give you an estimate:

It's amazing to see a nylon string guitar become so entwined with one man's stardom. It's an interesting story about Trigger. So worn out; so famous!

If anyone is looking for a Rickenbacker or an acoustic I'm looking to thin the herd. I'm a bit "Dread heavy" and looking to downsize. Special Pelican pricing if interested, I can list what I'm thinking of selling before turning to Reverb.

Went and saw my good friends at Prestige again on Thursday.

This particular guitar has a total build run of 100 guitars built over a number of years. It is the Devon Townsend "Empath" Signature Series. This year's run was only 10 guitars, as sourcing Toriffied Adirondack Spruce was difficult. Toriffied at the same place that Fender, Martin etc use in Nova Scotia, Canada.

Adirondack Spruce top, Indian Rosewood back and sides, Flame Maple bevels in the 3 cutaways, Mahogany neck with Ebony fingerboard and bridge.

I was on a back order/pre order for close to a year waiting for production. They were ready for shipping/playing on Thursday morning. The cool part was I had an invite to be the first to play all 10 of this years production as soon as they were completed and pick the one that I connected with. I ended up with #46, amazing guitar. Has a Fishman pick up as well.

10 "identical" instruments, all a little different. #46 had a slightly brighter sound, which I like, and a near perfect book end top.

Jeff- that is a gorgeous guitar! Great woods and maple bevels. Love the color of the baked top and satin finish. Wow! I looked at those a while ago, probably because you had mentioned them. I couldn't find any videos of it being played- can you post any?

Jeff Alton 10-21-2023 07:56 PM

This is Devon talking about the guitar

Another one from NAMM

I will keep searching, but heaven forbid if I end up making a video lol

Cheers

I wonder if Prestige has anything. Not many dealers in their network- at least not yet. Nowhere I can wander in.

Martin Guitar started a new series on their YouTube channel called "Behind the Glass." The first episode is about a 1947 D-18 that belonged to Hank Williams. Too short at 2 minutes- hopefully later episodes will be more thorough.

Neil Young famously claims to own a Hank Williams 1941 D-28, but the provenance of it hasn't really been proven that I know of. I think Neil Young believes it belonged to Hank. Sounds the same, either way, and it's in good hands.

Steve,

Covid killed the dealers a wee bit. They have a massive German dealer....

Most sales are shipped to buyers out of town/country. Folks who have seen them at the major shows and bought.

All I can tell you is if you purchased one, you would not regret it. Not that I am great guitar player, far from it, very far.... But I have 20 guitars now, 4 are from Prestige (with another one of their custom shop builds on the way). When I go downstairs to the music room, 9 times out of 10 I grab a Prestige to play. They work for me, and sound great to me. One man's opinion. There are guitars from Fender, Gibson, Guild, Taylor, Epiphone, Yamaha and Ovation to chose from in that room as well. But I normally reach for a Prestige.....

Cheers

I'm sure I would love it. I'm keeping my powder dry for a Pre-War Herringbone which I have my name on, but I'm 50/50 on pulling the trigger on it. I have until the summer to decide.

I saw that Jason Momoa just bought the first Martin D-28 (14 fret) ever sold, in 1934. Apparently, he's a guitar buff. This is a video the seller made of it:

Jeff that is a beautiful piece of art

Steve Carlton 11-02-2023 12:46 PM

I ordered a Gibson G-00 to play while watching TV and such. Small body (not a Parlor, though), seems to have a sweet sound. Dirt cheap and made at the US factory in Bozeman with sitka and walnut, good tuners, and a sound port. I like the plain Janeness of it.

I have an L-00 and love it. Doesn’t love picks but I mostly play finger style. A sweet guitar.

Congrats
