Interested as I feel (learned) the Les Paul neck at 17* without a volute is a risk for breakage.

I am a nerd as well, so the data is sadly intersting to me....

Cheers

15 deg

Also its a laminated neck. 3 ply maple.... the headstock is cut from the built up section... not a separate glued on piece.. If that makes any sense Every time I handle this guitar.. it makes me so impressed how well it is made...

It has a bone nut... with a brass insert..

Awesome, Thanks Tim!

Headstock on the Les Paul is 17*. Prestige uses 14*. Lowers the tension in the headstock. Prevents breakage if it falls, less stress on the nut etc....

Thanks for measuring!

The volute where the neck meets the headstock is an improvement over the Les Paul as well, much stronger area.

Cheers

This is my dream guitar. Carl Miner gets the best out of what he plays, but this is the essence of the 30's golden era that Martin gave us.

More data points

My PRS "Pauls Guitar"looks like 12 deg... cant really know if the neck/headstock are one piece, or the headstock is scarfed on.. since the neck is painted

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1691884779.jpg

My FMT Tele Special Edition headstock is parallel to the neck but offset 1/2in..

Its a set neck Tele and appear that the neck is one piece, not a built up laminate..

Its also the guitar I reach for most often the Ibanez is like an anchor, The PRS is a really nice guitar.. but the neck on the Tele is just so easy..and its light..

I have some other interesting oddball guitars that pretty much stay in their cases.

I am a big fan or Prestige Guitars here in Vancouver. Have 2 accoustics they built for me. Both beautiful instruments.

They started setting up their Custom Shop Factory in 2023 and I toured it before it was producing guitars.

Today I got a second tour, with another business peer, to see guitars being produced now. I have become good friends with Mike, the owner. Mike created a vision for a guitar just for me and I confirmed the order a few weeks ago. Details were firmed up on all of the custom details.

Great attention to detail and customer service. Their desire to build exactly what you want is un real. From picking the actual wood pieces to, inlays, to anything you can think of. Epic service and craftmanship.

Check them out here.... https://www.prestigeguitars.com/custom-shop/

They have a seperate company that allows them to source all of their own tone woods and supply tone woods to some of the biggest guitar companies in the world.

Cheers

What are they building for you, Jeff? I'm looking forward to seeing the finished guitar when you get it! Will you get pictures of the progress on it?

Jeff Alton 08-18-2023 02:11 PM

I will get pics, and I can go see it at varying stages of production, which will be very cool.

It is a Heritage Elite, swamp ash body, channeled, to keep the weight down. Finish is a livery of one of my fave Porsche's. Mike and his team actually came up with the "livery" and inspiration without my input. Then I worked with them on the small details.

Cheers

Similar to this with a unique finish?

Yes, and custom fretboard inlay. No pick guard.

FYI - these guitar threads have resulted in another guitar purchase… too bad I still don’t know how to play the first one.

My plan it to take guitar lessons this winter with my daughter.

Steve Carlton 08-19-2023 10:02 AM

What did you get?

unclebilly 08-20-2023 03:44 AM

Affinity Strat. It makes a great noise. I need to figure out how to make noises with it more predictably. I’ve also got an Art & Lutherie Americana Blue Burst. I think the neck is a bit big and I find it a bit buzzy.

Steve Carlton 08-20-2023 10:30 AM

Art & Lutherie makes good stuff in Canada. I got a killer deal on one of their Bourbon Roadhouse parlors. Maybe yours just needs a setup? I think a little buzz can be cool. Does it look like this?

Identical to that…

Jeff Alton 08-21-2023 08:02 PM

Cool Guitar!

Jeff Alton 09-01-2023 08:15 PM

Well, this arrived from the Prestige Custom Shop. Could not resist. Mike brought it out to my shop for me. It is beautiful. He took a couple of gutiars (epiphone and ovation) back to get the set up redone on in their service facility.

^ That was at the Chet Atkins festival in Nashville.
Tommy Emmanuel is a big part of the whole week and is quite generous with his time.
John Knowles is another “CGP” and is instrumental (pun) in the festival.
Great scheduled and unscheduled music all through the week, with a huge concert at the end.

Really a cool venue.
