Just found…

…this in my garage junk. Brings back memories of the old days. Know what it is? I’m sure many do.

It doesn't look like it's made of silicone.

Knob for the cowl vent on a 1956 VW Beetle. Probably blue.

VW dash knob. Headlight switch maybe?

Imagine this: if you owned the company that did one thing - make these knobs for all the VW beetles and buses and Karmann Ghias etc plus spares, you could have retired to your own island.

We need a pic of the end to see if it's threaded.

It is threaded and many knew it was a bug dash knob…specifically headlight switch knob…I think. All the dash knobs might be the same, can’t remember. A throw back from my old VW days. Would really love to have an early bug with a fabric sunroof…but alas I only have a 2 car garage.

VW # 113-941-541IV

Ivory knob used on headlight switch and ash tray in VW bugs, buses, and Karman Ghia 1952 to 1966. Here's one from an ashtray I have in the parts pile.

^^ Yes. Soap and water will usually do it. Sometimes you need to use a little lacquer thinner to bring out the original color.
