Jacques Torres. I used to work across the street from one of his stores in NYC. Highly recommended.

Second Voges. The truffles are otherworldly...even if occasionally a flavor combo is a little on the weird side.

OK. You guys have given me a lot of choices. I'm thinking I could order a little from each place and make my own Advent Calendar. What college aged boy doesn't like chocolate every day?

Staying in the old section of Zurich while there on business a few years back...I'd discovered lots of hidden gems in the narrow alleyways.
...and just last weekend in Boston - discovered Laderach (Swiss) chocolatier in the Prudential Center. Very knowledgeable/friendly staff - very generous with free samples...and wonderful chocolate! Also...the really grainy, semi fermented tasting chocolate from Oaxaca - especially great if you can score a bottle of family brewed, smokey mescal to wash it down! |

Do yourself a favor and drop a little coin on their large box. I think it is 25 chocolates. Photos do not do it justice. They look like little jewels when you first open the box. And of course, they are as creamy and yummy as artisan chocolates can possibly be.

I'd offer up my fav, but I don't think they ship. No website. I think they have a facebook page, but I don't facebook.
The Sweet Shop in La Crosse, WI. Homemade candy. Homemade ice cream. You want a soda? They'll squirt a little syrup in a glass and add soda water. The same family has owned it for 101 years now. My wife like raspberry candies, but she doesn't like dark chocolate. They're the only ones I'm aware of that would make milk chocolate raspberry candies. The only gripe I have is the wooden booths, the same ones that have been there since I was a little kid, have shrunk or something. I just don't fit in them the same. Oh well, get the stuff to go. |

I'm easy to please. If in California, any See's shop is good. My favorite.
I have a HS classmate who owns a boutique-y place just off Rodeo Drive. The Pop Rocks Praline and the Passion Fruit Caramel are unique. https://and-sons.com/. You can buy the candies loose (in a plastic baggie), if you don't want/need to pay for the fancy box.

I happen to love dark chocolate. This place is amazing if you have a hankering. I stop at this shop every trip (several decades now) to the Hersey, now Carlisle Swap Meet. As long as I stop here on the way back and bring something home, the honey-do list isn't brought up until the next weekend. This stuff is seriously good!

You can tell that Seattle has a fair amount of drizzle and gloom. We cope by having an excellent array of coffee, craft beer, and chocolate.
Here's a couple that I like: https://theochocolate.com/ https://www.dilettante.com/
