Another huge release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserves to get us through the November election.

Sooner or later 10-22-2022 06:21 AM

I had hoped they wouldn't release the last 15 million from the original 180 million. Not at all surprised. This will hit the market in December.

Wishful thinking but our government regardless of party has to realize we have too much land mass to have electric vehicles be the total solution to global warming/pollution . Electric vehicles CAN be PART of the solution . We need to continue to use fossil fuels AND develop equivalent bio fuels . And continue to work on alternates like hydrogen or any other viable fuel source .

Any alternate fuel solutions HAS to include the fuel companies as they already have the infrastructure in place which is very $$$ to build from scratch . The oil companies like any business want to make money . Whether they are hauling gas/diesel made from dino or made from algae they don't care as long as they can turn a profit . All the problems can be solved , just need the right people involved to solve the problems . Just my humble opinion :D

They would have to want to solve the problem...that they intentionally caused. That would not increase their power one bit.

The ability of a President to use/release the SPR for political purposes to influence an election is quite a good thing if you are in charge and have failing policies that massively increased the price of gas. It seems a twofold benefit as you temporarily lower prices and your administration receives the money from the sale of the released oil which your successor must buy back at much higher prices.

I am worried what this will mean in Jan and Feb when it gets really cold (and later) as production has seemingly been reduced to account for the releases. When the releases stop, there will be no quick replacement from the private sector unless something changes.

I filled my truck at $3.99 when Saudi announced the cut back and "they" were predicting big gas price hikes. Now, two weeks later, it's $3.49. WTF?

JackDidley 10-24-2022 12:21 PM

$3.24 for 87 at Sams today.

Only good prices are at Sams or Costco. Convenience stores are generally 40 to 50 cents higher.

stevej37 10-24-2022 03:17 PM

We have both...but the best price is $4.03 for reg today.
