Welp! Here we are...
Gas prices around here are all over the board. While they're down from highs, locally we're still above the $4.00 mark.

Ugh, the gas thread got moved? Oh well....I refuse to engage over at the dark side. I've tried, but it's such a cesspool of vitriolic hate over there. It brings me down...

I just gave you 5 Nick so you've got that going for you. I haven't filled up in a while but driving around I noticed Regular prices were way down but 89 and 93 were still the same as a few weeks ago. My sense is the BIG Regular low price draws most in and then don't bother to leave when they notice 89/93 are still crazy expensive.

Around me in north Detroit there seems to be some downward pressure but on the premium side it's still about $5+.

I saw $4.56 for reg near me (SE PA)

We're still all over the place. Van Wert is 4.05 on the North side today and still 3.95 on the South side. The north side stations are right off of 30 so maybe that's bumping prices up. It's unusual for Murphy to be higher than other stations in Van Wert but right now they are.

The one that really surprises me is E85. I try to fill up my flex fuel truck with it when it gets around 90 cents cheaper but some stations have the price at around 75 cents difference.

$3.85 here for reg. $4.45 for prem.

Almost every gas station around here keeps a 60 cent diff between reg and prem.
It never varies more than a nickel from that.

4.00 to 4.20 here. getting back to normal.

I don't think that would move the needle much, unless you had a huge drop in demand, which I don't foresee. Right now there is just too much constrained supply (refinery capacity) and a whole lot of global uncertainly (along with surging demand). That's going to keep prices bid up for the short to intermediate term, IMO...

BTW historic trends show it typically climbs for Memorial Day
and then falls a little after the 4th,
and climbs a little for Labor Day before dropping towards fall/winter

not to mention, there is just a total lack of appetite in the US to throw more $$ at the oil industry. That isn’t because of politics…it’s because investors lost money for the last decade and desperately want returns. These record profits right now are by design…and that ain’t changing anytime soon.

Personally, I think gas below $3 is achievable.

Prices ranged between $2 and $3 from 2014 to 2021. Once we go back to policies that encourage exploration and drilling and stop preventing inexpensive, safe, and effective means of transportation like pipelines...prices should drop very quickly.

i think you mean when the oil companies stop making record profits to recoup the losses they suffered under trump.

It is a free market...but the record losses had more to do with states and cities shutting down and staying shut down.

I’ll be filling up Thursday. Last time I looked it was $4.19 a gallon.

That is an interesting theory...and not without merit. That the nation's oil and gas producers all realized that they could no longer profit by producing additional oil/gas somewhere around late January 2021 which made prices shoot up dramatically over the past 18 months? It is almost like they turned on a dime based on some new reality/threat to the energy industry. I wonder what event/disaster caused their sudden change in sentiment/investment plans between November 2020 and late Jan 2021? Any idea?

$3, would make me happy. $3.85 at Sams here a couple days ago. $4.15 at the circle S. +.70 for the premium I need.

I refuse to buy a vehicle that needs premium fuel. I know that rules out a lot of fun cars, but I just can't bring myself to buy a car that I know will cost me more to fuel up.

I think we are entitled to the price that the free market would allow absent government actively working to reduce U.S production.

I feel it's a fair trade-off for the great gas mileage they get. (40 and 33)

if one was not conned to the max
one could note WAR has an effect
even BIGGER then government rules
