One of the best car chases ever.

This one is also quite good.

Gene Hackman at the height of his powers.
Brad Dourif (seen here as the opposite of Billy in One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest).

Fun fact from the comments, Brad Dourif played Doc Cochrane in Deadwood. I never would have recognized him.

Gene Hackman you say?

Car chase you say?

How about Hackman wheeling a '71 Pontiac LeMans in a car chase, from 1971 and directed by William Friedkin? :)

^^^ Supposedly filmed without permits? Hard to imagine that's any more than urban legend.

Baz 01-15-2023 06:16 PM

Or "The Seven Ups" from 1973 and Roy Scheider's 1973 Pontiac Ventura coupe in pursuit of a 1973 Pontiac Grand Ville sedan.... :)

Quite an impressive cast in Mississippi Burning. I liked Brad Dourif in Deadwood, too. And William Sanderson as E.B. Farnum, the hotel manager. I liked him as J. F. Sebastian, the genetic designer in Blade Runner. "I make my friends."

herr_oberst 01-15-2023 06:47 PM

Same driver in the Charger in Bullit, The Grand Ville in the Seven Ups and the Le Mans in French Connection.

Bill Hickman.

Steve Carlton 01-15-2023 06:52 PM

He was a stunt driver. He sure made a good hitman in Bullitt. Very business-like driving that '68 Charger R/T 440.

Time to watch this again. Great cast, well done, great soundtrack. Even a little Porsche content.

A Simple Plan. Very underrated, in my estimation. Bill Paxton (RIP) and Billybob give subtle but heartwrenching performances here.

^ Incredible movie. "I drink your milkshake!"

Baz 01-17-2023 07:26 PM

Back to car chase scenes... :)

From 1985 and directed by legendary William Friedkin.....the cult classic "To Live and Die in L.A.".....

Thanks for posting, Herr Oberst. Never knew about this one and two great actors I look forward to watching it!

I dated a girl I really liked....a lot. But it just didn't work out. She had the most beautiful big green eyes. Porsche girl whom I met at a PCA function. Had a '95 993 coupe. Dark blue. Reminds me a lot of Karen Allen.....
