^^^ I'm not sure what the bird worm is....but I think my father called the ones in our dog roundworms. They seemed to like the inside of the dog's leg most....maybe because of less hair.
Just grab the skin around it and work it backwards until there was enough to get ahold of with tweezers. In those times, our dogs all lived outside and in dog houses...which didn't help anything for it's health.

^^^ My father was an infantryman and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. When he returned home he was hired at Continental/ Teledyne Motors and worked as a machinist building tanks.
In later years I remember him telling us there was a big internal struggle with Chrysler as to the next gen of tanks. I don't know who won that battle.
