Sell it then buy an older simpler pre turbo straight 6 BMW with manual transmission and then put 300k on it.

Keep the engine oil clean and drive it. And never go to the dealership for service.

Maybe check into a Fidelity Platinum warranty? I bought one for a 997.2 Carrera 4S I bought. Porsche quoted me $6K for the best package for 4 years of coverage. I ended up paying about $3K by going to another dealership- a Chevrolet dealership. They said they were happy to sell the package and make something for a car they would never see. Lots of profit built into these warranties- negotiate and search.

Wow that sucks!
I had extended warranty on my 335 and it paid for itself many times over.
Any idea what a BMW key fob is worth? I don't as it was covered. I'm sure it was north of a g (cdn) with programming.

Well, since I'm unlikely to get a warranty now and since I had an indep. shop change the ATF and coolant at 68k miles, I don't think I really need to do much at 100k miles, do I?

my newsest BMW was a 79 635 euro with alpina bits

Really struggling on this one. Dealer says they can only give me auction pricing for a trade-in, though my car is optioned to the hilt and pretty nice. AZ does not have sales tax on private party vehicle sales, so I could save some money selling myself and buying private party, though that would be some legwork. I could self-insure and just see how it goes. I drove a near new 2022 MB GLB 250 yesterday they're blowing out. 3k miles on the clock. But just seems like pissing money away. Dunno what to do here.

Just drive it and see what happens! You can still wrench or have you lost a limb? Even if you don’t diy, with good car knowledge you are still way ahead of the average consumer, noticing issues early and being able to have it fixed at an independent without getting taken advantage of.

I HTH!?

Did I say 85,025 miles? I’m sorry, I meant 84,025 miles!

In like Flynn!

I think it's settled now. I'm gonna drive it until it dies and DIY as much as I can. I was just browsing new ones (which I'd never ever buy no matter how rich I were) at the dealer the other day and, for the huge price delta, I just don't see what more they offer other than being newer and having a warranty. My car is fully optioned and everything works flawlessly. It lacks nothing that I want other than for someone else to pay for big repairs. Now, I'm gonna go break in that new Motive bleeder today, since the car is a keeper.

DanJ any chance you could expand on what "BMW things is"

I have had many BMW's and still have 3 and don't have any real problems with them, The last two years I have replaced more parts on my 2011 2500hd then on the 3 cars.

In my experience "BMW things" are cooling system issues (redo every 75K end to end), rod bearings (E46-E9x), turbos (after that), Fuel pumps, ECUs, screeching fans, depends on the years really. If fastidiously maintained they are pretty good cars... More labor intensive than Porsches of similar eras in my experience. Modern ones can be more annoying to shadetree fix because of the interconnected modules / encryption. I'm sticking iwth my 1973 2002 and E46 M3. That's my upper limit.
