Daisy Jones & The Six

New series that came out this month on Amazon. About a fictional band that came out in the early '70s and settled into Laurel Canyon. Inspired by Fleetwood Mac. Very entertaining, with some really good music in there, too.

Riley Keough (Lisa Marie Presley's daughter) makes the show as Daisy.

She’s a pretty good actress.

Just finished it. I just kept telling myself that it’s loosely based on Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham so it didn’t seem so cheesy. Overall it was entertaining.

I started watching a few episodes but lost interest in it. Music was very good during that period and the soundtrack is good too. And I agree it is loosely based on the female line up from Fleetwood Mack, but I prefer the line up before Stevie and Lindsey.

I saw them in 68 at the miami pop festival at gulfstream race track
before Stevie and Lindsey joined

Does she get naked in this too? Everything else I've seen her in usually involves nudity, with the exception of the Joe Paterno HBO show.

Up to around episode 5 or 6.

It’s entertaining.

Daisy, the character, toxic as ****. “I don’t know if we can survive her” i’m sure will end up being the most prophetic line in the story.

Having a hard time liking her or empathizing with her back story.

Up to this point i’m a little disappointed with the original music they are creating.

For a story about two great singer / songwriters i find the lyrics lacking.

Watching
I enjoy the genre.

I finished it. Disappointed in episodes 6-8, but still worthwhile.

Can't imagine their sound without Stevie and Lindsey.

Prior to 1971, Peter Green and Bob Welsh were band members. Christine McVie was a guest member, later to become a permanent member. Their music changed around that time and continued to change when Buckingham joined the band

My wife wants to watch this BUT almost everything she decides that we should watch ends up being garbage. Usually halfway through a movie or first episode of a series she will say, "you can change it" once she realizes it is not good.

They were originally a forgettable 60s blues band. The entire band turned over except the drummer and bassist. They were a new band entire by 1975 when they actually got big.

Just watched episode 8 out of 10.

I like it less as it evolves.

Daisy is so broken and toxic it's getting unbearable.

She has her reasons for her demons but her demons make her a narcissistic conduit for perpetual chaos.

I feel zero empathy for her and have come to actually despise her.

sugarwood 03-25-2023 10:11 AM

The self-created drama does get frustrating, but it's a TV show. That's kind of the point. If everyone was a rational actor, they'd get along, make records, make money, and there would be one episode total.

I got up to episode 5 or 6. There are cameos by some good music, but the original stuff is awful. Plus, the story is not engaging.

I agree with your assessment. The original music is awful. It was nice to hear Gold Dust Woman played in one of the episodes like a breath of fresh air.
