Speaking of cars owned a long time ago..
I owned one of these:
The story goes like this: someone alerted me as I had a '50TD that there was a wrecked SA up at USC that was selling cheap. I got a trailer and headed up to meet one Gayle Bensusan, ostensibly a foreign student with a lot of money. Being a RHD with a turning radius of a Peterbilt, he cut a corner, caught the rear wheel on something like a fire hydrant and ripped the rear axle around about to 30º from straight. The front wing and running board were bent up against the doors. It could have been a total but I had to have it. ![]() This is what it looked like 2 years later. |

IIRC it was a 4-speed with a non synchro 1st. Typical up through the '50's. This was the only 6 cyl engine they ever made, AFAIK.
