Reminds me of the line from the Richard Thompson song 1952 Vincent Black Lightning, that I can't get out of my head.
And I've seen you on the corners and cafes, it seems.

I've decided it's gotta be the hips.

Nice RK, HardDrive. Enjoy that beauty.

Ive' been riding my "girls bike" since 1990. I've put more miles on it than most of the weekend warriors with their baggers. Ive had a Harley since 1985. Ive owned sportys , FXRs , etc. Still, my fave bike is my XL.

Great color on your first one Jeff! Awesome new to you bike HD!

Below is my '06 Electra Glide Classic that I rode for 12 years and sold to a buddy of mine when I bought the '18 Road Glide parked next to it. The picture below was taken in Florida on our way to the Keys from Tampa back in April. A nice change from the cold he in CO.

As Jeff said, that '06 had zero issues the entire time I owned it. I would do oil changes and that is it. Was rock solid.

I have friends that ride all kinds of different bikes and I like talking to anyone that wants to chew the fat. Hell, a 900SS is parled in the garage next to my Harley.

Same thing with surfing - you can usually spot a female surfer in about 1/2 a second....

Going through the manual to learn the maintenance regime.

I categorically refuse to call it a jiffy stand.

Great Platform !
AFAIk compensator wear out, - convert to belt drive for the best fix
Swingarm bushing /bearings wear out and cause tank slappers if not addressed.
There are all kinds of repairs offered by all kinds of vendors
The ball bearings in the wheels can be replaced with Timkin kits and should be when the first set wear out.

Bert over at Baker offers a shifter so neutral is all the way dwn, and the shifts all up, eliminating the guesswork of finding the neutral spot and missed shifts .

I never had a single issue finding neutral with that five speed box. The 6 speed in my '18 is a pain in the ass and I thought after 15k miles it would get easier but it hasn't.

I also got rid of the heel shifters the second I got each bike. F those things.

Welllll....
if you go belt, ya get rid of the oil , and use a better clutch.
This gets rid of about 40lbs of flying weight, and the massive CLUNK into gear.
A much better dry clutch can be used.
Plus the weird chain tensioner is deleted.
A Harley is a painting ....we all accept that with their problems and work to make them better.

Great looking bike!! Harleys are the best at what they do, which is different from what sport bikes or enduros do.

All I know is that I see people on Harley baggers on the freeway who just look like they are in the zone. Total bliss.

Ever since this thread I’m obsessed with getting a Road King. I’m retired from riding and my wife will take the dogs and split. I’m in a bind now thanks!

How’s the bike?

Really enjoy this guys RK videos. Here’s a fun one

Not a “Road” King but check this out…..limited # made so no chance I could be tempted anyway…. But glad to know Harley will still make a bike like this even if a limited production

My OneDrive photo thingy just popped up this photo from 20 years ago today with my Harley at a Neil Young show at Jones Beach, NY. And yea, drinking beer and stupidly sitting on my beautiful Davida helmet (still have it). To be 30 again. Lucky I made it home this night though

I'm trying to decide; do you look more like Michael Parks in Then Came Bronson or Mickey Rourke in Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man?

Either way? Fantastic photo, love the attitude here, and the fact that it's a NY show in NY makes it mo'betta.

haha thanks. i look in the mirror and just see pee wee herman

I see in that photo (taken with one of the earliest digital cameras - minolta dimage x) my Omega watch I sold a decade later to a forum member here who i think has since passed away and my aviator goggles that my sisters dog chewed to bits and my blundstone boots that I bought in 96 and only just tossed in the garbage last summer. i still have that leather tool bag hanging on the forks....have some tools in it now in the porsche. sold the bike to a mail man in 2010

Great pic. And we all are lucky, at least I was, to make it home. more than once.

My Dad was Harley rider for decades. He had that thing all good motorcycle folks have.
