I think the same way as Steve. Again. The perp thought they were making a dog happy. Which brings me to.....

....The perp must have known there is a dog in there. That is, the perp would not have simply thrown a THC gummy over a fence just to get rid of it. They were feeding the dog. Unless....

Someone threw it over the fence to avoid being caught with it. Hmmmm....

Sorry Jeff...

Same here.

Sorry this happened. I am extremely careful in my house with it with my 2 dogs

My brother dropped his weed and his dog ate it….dog was extremely sick and needed vets care. I thought it odd because humans don’t get high from eating raw weed. Apparently dogs are different.

As a dog owner, I see threats everywhere. When we got one of our puppies we were coming out of the vet after having his shots etc….and he ate a cigarette butt in the parking lot. Straight back in and vet induced vomiting

I don’t let anyone give my dogs anything. I trust no one. I won’t even leave my dogs at a kennel and because of this, I haven’t been on an airplane in 12 years. Wife not happy but I’m insane when it comes to my dogs safety

Check your doorbell and security cams and ask nearby neighbors to check theirs. I know you probably don't know when these nutters tossed the edibles and it may have been at night, but it's worth a shot.

If you come up with some footage, after making note of rough height and build, remember to look at the shoes... dumbasses may change their shirts, etc., but they're probably gonna be wearing the same shoes the next time they walk down your street.

My vet said dogs can't metabolise dope. Very bad for them.

I hope you are not eating dinner right now. If you are don't read any further.

I was walking the dogs on the beach and I thought "What are they eating" and it was a round circle of runny human poo. A while later both dogs were very ill. The vet said the sort of person who poos on the beach is probably stoned, plus giardia. And it's been a long process getting them right again.

Same here in terms of growing and imbibing. Used to. Decades ago.

Let's stay positive and suggest a stupid but positive intention at the best. "It's all the same right?"
(The alternative would be much easier)

Some dogs will eat anything.
And almost every dog will gobble it all without hesitation if there is several of them, ie food competition.
My puggle walks delicately a few feet past rabbits sitting there in the back yard to eat their poop.

I'm still shaking with anger... Just back from the vet. Our new little sweetheart, Tillamook ("Tilly" to her friends, which is everyone, on the right, with her pal Ed on the left) hasn't been herself since last night.

i would not need a blood test to confirm the dog on the right is high as fuch...... it was suggested you have a open space walking trail at the back of your property? is the new addition bark at folks walking by? not saying it's right, but could have attention been peaked by a dog going ape at the fence?

i had a dog that would get into my green house from time to time and eat on my crop. never hurt her, but she did become a crack whore junkie eventually...

Jeff Higgins 06-28-2023 08:31 PM

Yes, we do live right next to a greenbelt where lots of folks walk by to get to it. When we first bought, we lived in a very rural, wooded area outside of city limits. Suburban encroachment engulfed us about ten years ago. Still a dead end, with big lots, so not a whole lot of foot traffic. Pretty easy to spot anyone who "doesn't belong".

And yes, Tilly is a barker. That has been her biggest challenge for us. She was not well socialized before we started "babysitting" her (one year in, one to go), so she alerts at anything. Ed just looks at her and rolls over...

I get that whoever did this may be too uninformed to realize what a risk this presents to a dog. Now that I've calmed down a bit, I've change my hoped for response from a life altering altercation to a life altering conversation. Education rather than flagellation. Unless, of course, they appear to be trying to be "sneaky" about it, which I will take as an indication they know what it is they are doing is wrong and harmful.

Tilly is coming around. She appears to be sobering up. She never lost her appetite (I may have to actually hide the Doritos...), kept drinking her normal amount, and appeared regular. I don't think there is any lasting harm. We'll know for sure in the morning, but she's looking good right now.

I (past tense) had an idiot client who made “CBD” for dogs. My beloved lab was dying of cancer so I gave him some for anxiety relief. He got totally high and was freaking out. Not how I wanted my buddy’s final times.

Yes. Enraged is the correct response.

This is awful.

It's too bad it seems like every body needs security cams, even if it's just for pets.

Works on people too. And makes people more open to suggestion.

At the least put up a sign that says “24 Hours Video Surveillance” so the piece of human garbage that did this thinks twice about doing it again.

Hope Tilly feel better soon.

Jeff, you might call the writers / reporters of the Everett Herald newspaper to do an article on the risks of Doggy THC ingestion.

Meanwhile, has the Dog recently taken up playing Sax in a Hip Reggae Jazz Band?

I gotta think this is some sort of freak accident.

Just can't imagine too many stoner types are looking for creative ways to get rid of excess marijuana products. Even the gummies and legal stuff is pretty expensive ive been told. The last time I partook the internet was brand new, so I may be way off base but just smell right that it would be widespread and deliberate.

Anyways, sincerely hope pup feels better soon

We watch The Five every afternoon on Fox.

Dana Perino, one of the hosts, has had the same thing happen with her new dog multiple times. Apparently, he would find weed on the beach or street and eat up. Same with her, the vet had to figure it out.

Superman 06-29-2023 08:17 AM

Glad she seems to be recovering.

Well, we have our gregarious little Tilly back this morning. Bursting with energy, pestering Ed relentlessly - all good.

Neither dog leaves our yard unless they are with us. They live behind a chainlink fence in a big yard, with the fence at least 60 feet off the road in front, and 20 feet off the road to the side. The other two sides abut neighbors' properties. All but the front side of the fence is buried in my laurel hedge, so it doesn't look like a fence (it took me years of letting the laurel grow through and around it, trimming it just right to achieve this, and make it not look like a fence).

All of that is why I have kind of ruled out the notion that she just "found something". Maybe she did, but it's pretty unlikely. I dunno. We're just glad to have her "back". Ed, maybe not so much... he's getting older, and his new pesky "little sister" loves to play. The good thing is that Ed has lost 15 pounds since she showed up, and has never been in better shape. Can't wait to see him work this upcoming hunting season.

Any “weeds” around the area that Tilly might be chewing?

Outstanding! Great news and update!

Very weird situation.

I would be very angry too.

If it helps, it probably wasn’t malicious. Most people have no idea gummies are bad for dogs, some people probably think it’s a treat. I’d consider cameras, and a sign.

Glad your pup is better.

911 Rod 06-29-2023 10:16 AM

Did the tests come back? I'm seeing a lot of mushrooms popping up.
