Fun fact.

Laptops should be plugged into power whenever possible.

Onboard power management will throttle performance when on battery.

Your better, higher end laptops will commonly have two GPU's and will default to the less powerful one while on battery.

At this point, a NUC is pointless
Not at all.. when my tower PC died, Was using two monitors, had a nice little soundbar/speaker thing, VESA mounts and all the peripherals... So all I needed to get back going was PC... and a NUC fit perfectly, really cleaned up my desk because it mounts behind one of the monitors.. cloned the SSD from my fried PC to a new SSD and I'm back up running with barely a hiccup

Yeah.

Microsoft is well known for taking a purely good viable product, with so much market-share-dominance potential, and tablet competition.
And then throwing it all away.
But only after making it worse. Almost deliberately.
For a long time.

I've built several NUCs, including one for my father to upgrade his PC. I also used one for our conference room for general use and one for a friend. One was a NUC 5 and the others NUC 6. At some point, there was a software (Can't remember driver or Windows 10) and the ethernet ports quit working (on all of them!). I had to buy USB ethernet adapters for the hardwired connections. Very annoying. So, yes, I'm a bit sour on the NUCs.

These days, I prefer simplicity. And the all-in-ones can be upgraded: RAM and storage.

Intel announced today they will stop production of NUC's . Part of streamlining their business model . They will continue to support and say they are encouraging their business partners to continue with the product .
