History Of The Screwdriver
So I've started out my day with some learnins. This popped up in my YouTube feed so, yep, l learned something today.
I don't think I have ever used a Robertson screwdriver, that I know of anyway. https://youtu.be/R-mDqKtivuI Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

For some of us, the square drive is the defacto construction standard. And for good reason, they are very good. Way ahead of Phillips, probably slightly inferior to Torx, but close enough that it rarely matters.
If you see a Model T with Roberston screws it was built in Canada.

Thanks Hobie. I saved the linked video to my watch later list because I'm about to go to bed. All the best!

Interesting stuff. His presentation style is almost annoying enough to not watch, but not bad.
It definitely had some interesting history. Robertson is huge these days. I think they've taken over in certain areas. I think that's what most of the deck screws that I see use, and they are nice. After that video, another started by a guy in the UK with less history and more practical application. He discussed several types of screw head, regular, phillips, robertson, torx, and pozidrive. His favorite is pozidrive. I don't know that I've ever seen a pozidrive screw.

Probably the orange juice. But what do you get with vodka, orange juice, and Milk of of Magnesia?

And then there's JIS; as a kid who had Japanese motorcycles in the 70's and 80's I wish I'da known about these before I mangled a thousand JIS-headed case bolts with a phillips screwdriver.
The Vessel impact driver was a valuable part of my toolbox. Heat and brute force.

I drove private for a while and was out with a rich woman touring the rural country in Maryland. We got a flat tire, and of course I can't can't get the hubcap off. The woman searches the tool bag, and spies a tool that will help. "You want a screwdriver?" she asks. "Might as well, I can't get this damned hubcap off." I know, I now, I'll delete soon ![]()

It's one of those goofy jokes that are funny. To most people, I guess...

This is interesting and goes into some detail about how/why some drives work better than others, at least according to this guy. I assume he's simplified things a bit compared to what an engineer might explain, but I suspect he's mostly correct in his explanations.
