Biking the Legacy Trail in S.W. FL
On Labor Day, four of us left Siesta Key for a day of biking. We rented 9 speed 'fat tire' bikes from Real Bikes in Venice and headed north for Sarasota.
At McIntosh Rd in Sarasota we turned around and went south to Venice....crossed the Circus Bridge and stopped for beers at Sharky's at Caspersen Beach. Before returning our bikes, we took a 'corridor/path' towards North Port to explore the area where they found Brian Laundrie. It turned into a dirt pathway and was too much for our bikes...so we gave it up and went back to return the bikes. All said, we had a great fun five hours and about 50 miles. ![]() Saw lots of wildlife and the fat tire bikes were perfect for the trail. (they pedal super easy)

Thanks...we did.
Nope...those rental bikes seem to never have a seat bag or attachment point for a phone. The price was great for them...$25 for each bike all day. (and they looked brand new) E-bikes were available for $50 a day. None of us thought that was a good idea on a trail....some people get upset about them.

I called them 'fat tire bikes'...but they weren't the large ones I've seen before. (I think some are 3-4 inches wide?)
These were prob 2 inches wide...where my bike at home is about 1 inch wide.
