Flu

I'm in the middle of the worst strain of flu I've ever had. The 10-15 times I've had the flu, my shoulders ache one day, I take a healthy slug of Nyquil that night and wake up completely fine, or close. I'm on day 3 of zero energy and feeling completely run down.

Not your average flu. And negative on the cv test so that's good.

Hope you get some rest and feel better soon!!!

Sorry to hear, Shaun.

Being sick sucks big time!

Hope you feel better soon!

As a data point - did you get a flu shot? And have you gotten them before? Only asking because I never get them and usually don't get sick.

Not trying to pry into your privacy or anything.....

Strong bone broth always turns me around. The Pup eats 3 Costco chickens a week so never a shortage of carcasses.

I boil them for 3 hours with celery, carrots and onion. You know how to do the rest, super concentrate it.

That and some herbal tea with a good snort of whiskey or rum also does the trick. Feel better!

I hope you feel better soon Shaun. I guess it is a good thing you did not come to RR7.

Take another CV test. It is not unheard of to test negative for the first few days, with the consumer grade rapid antigen tests.

Danimal16 10-03-2023 02:23 PM

Shaun,
Get well friend, all that hard work will force you to slow down. Hope it is a brief time out.

sc_rufctr 10-03-2023 02:39 PM

Get better soon.

I've been blowing a pound of snot from my nose a day for the last 6 days. Getting much better now but I don't remember ever doing that before or feeling like this. Truly weird.

Bill Douglas 10-03-2023 02:45 PM

Good luck Shaun. The real flu is a terrible thing.

GF is a civil servant and as soon as they get a sniffly nose they phone in sick with the flu. I had the real thing and tought I was going to die.

Shaun @ Tru6 10-03-2023 03:59 PM

Thank you Gentlemen, I appreciate the kind words. Per John, I am going to test again tomorrow for cv. This test was definitive in it's appearance but I have lost all taste and smell. Completely. That has me worried.

Dan, if I had gone, I wouldn't have contracted whatever I have, I am pretty sure I got it Thursday night at The Creator movie. I think that makes sense from an incubation and blooming perspective.

Going to bed now. Big doctor appointment tomorrow on whether my bad eye can be crosslinked.

jyl 10-03-2023 04:42 PM

If Covid, ask doctor about getting Paxlovid started ASAP. The data on reduction of long Covid risk, alone, is enough for me, even if you don’t mind toughing it out through the acute phase of the illness. Sure, there’s sometimes metallic taste and occasionally rebound but nothing is perfect.

Bugsinrugs 10-03-2023 04:57 PM

My son is just getting over Covid. No taste or smell. The worst flu I ever had was terrible. I couldn’t get up off the floor. Nausea would come in waves. I too thought I was going to die.

Sorry to hear that Sean. I just got all 3 of the shots Monday: RSV, Covid and Flu shot. I figure anything I can do to help protect me from all this stuff is worth doing. Hope you get well soon.

Shaun @ Tru6 10-04-2023 03:34 PM

^^^ thank you, smart man getting the shots, I'm writing to my docytor tomorrow morning about what I should get. Still feel like hell, still absolutel7y no sense of taste and smell, and negative cv test again an hour a go. Same company so I wonder if I should find another vendor.

I don't like how long this is lasting and the loss of taste thing.

billybek 10-04-2023 04:27 PM

I had the c bug in March and not being able to taste anything was annoying.
OTOH I was buying crappy sandwiches at Safeway by price rather than content. It didn't matter what it tasted like.
Tested my sense of smell every morning by smelling the coffee... Yep, I would wake up and try to smell the coffee.

1000+mg VitC a little at a time. Water based and difficult to overdose on. Never a bad thing except when eating spinach and Iron.

VitD is also usually low.

Magnesium (joints/gut) and Potassium(/sodium cellular exchange pump exchange) in smaller amounts.
Cilantro which detoxifies heavy metals.

Lots of water/tea to flush the urinary track and rest. I'm also hoping for your quick recovery.

no taste and smell? You have the Wuhan flu. Get well soon.

Gogar 10-04-2023 05:17 PM

I had the most recent version of the china virus a few weeks ago. Total nothingburger. Seems like it really affects everyone differently! Get well soon in any case.

I only got the shot yesterday. Last night was enough of a reminder. We wear masks out still. Just like the pharmacist and the staff. They know. I'm still shaking.
