One of the dumbest things I have done:
On a crisp cold January day heading up the highway in the early morning dark when I saw a truck ahead of me slow and stop at the crest of a small rise. I pulled around him straight into a whiteout. I knew there was a band of trees ahead on the windward side and figured the conditions would improve there. The highway had rumble strips on both sides and the center line. I had of course crossed one when I pulled around the truck and was listening and feeling for it to get back in my lane. I felt a rumble but a moment later my left wheel dropped off the pavement onto the shoulder . I gently eased the van back onto the pavement and was crossing back into my own lane just as I drove out of the curtain of snow. Within a half hour the wind had eased off and the sun rose on one very lucky fool. Best Les
