Thumbs up I just bought another Interceptor......

This makes my 6th....although from what I understand the '90 I bought earlier this year isn't supposed to be called an "Interceptor", IIRC.....

I have a pretty good track record of eBay vehicle purchases.....so hopefully the trend continues.

This time the bike is in another state and apparently doesn't have a title! So will take a little extra effort to complete the process.

The good news is the seller has a great reputation so that will help.

I've only paid a deposit and will talk to the seller tomorrow to figure out the next step(s).

Link to auction: eBay

And video:

BTW....according to the VIN, this is an early production (#357) F2 model, which is the updated VFR700F. Has the square gauges too, so essentially the same bike as my '87's.

That white color wasn't offered until '87 too.

I was looking for another '87 so essentially I have that in this '86 bike and it is in better overall condition than all the other '87's I have.

My very first VFR was originally white, but re-painted yellow by the previous owner. The next two I bought were blue. Now I finally have an original white example!

Yeah, Gabe Kaplan is, by all accounts a stand up guy. I love his channel, been subscribed for years. He gets some really, really cool bikes. I just wish he wasn't so dang far away.

I think you meant "Ken"......"Gabe" was the Welcome Back Kotter guy......

Yeah - this will be my first out of state purchase but people do it every day so hoping for a relatively smooth transport......

Doesn't have the correct mirrors or front turn signals but I will resolve that at some point.

Pretty cool to have the factory exhaust with the twin mufflers. All 3 of my previous ones have had Kerker singles......

Very cool Baz!

You've got quite a collection of them going-

My big brother's 83 has stock mufflers too, when the originals rusted/wore out he insisted on another set even though the parts guy at the local Honda shop was suggesting aftermarket set ups that were a lot cheaper.
He loved the way is sounded and didn't want to monkey with jets or settings... they do look and sound very good

Rebuilding the carbs after it had set for too many years returned it to a smooth idle and good response

At first, I thought Jensen, then Crown Vic. Open the thread and it is a crotch rocket. You can't pack found things on a crotch rocket.

Thank you all for the congratulatory comments - much appreciated.

Just got off the phone with Ken and got the info to wire the balance.

Transport cost will be $650 door to door - fully insured bonded etc. etc. - very reasonable...

I'm off to work and will send updates as appropriate!

Hey, I bought a bike from him back in March. Great service, and bike turned out to be better than what he was showing. He and his crew do really good restoration work when needed, and they also are cornering the market on pristine garage queens from the 1960's, 70's and on....

Also liked his tour of the Goodyear Blimp.

Nice looking bike Baz. I don't remember ever seeing one of those in white, possibly not available up here so it would not get lost in the snow.

Looks like another great bike. I admit it. I am sort of jealous. Not only do you have great bikes but you have great weather for riding.

That's great, ck! So far it's been a very easy transaction.

I've watched quite a few of his videos and agree his staff does a fantastic job getting these bikes ready for auction.

If you watch that video, Kenny said this bike was the last one his long time mechanic worked on before leaving. And he was a real whiz at working on these V4's.

Bucket list would be to get up there for a tour of his museum one day!

Thank you! In 1987 the two color options were White and Blue. In '86 is was just the RWB livery.

I guess this being an '86 F2...it had the same color option as the '87's.

To be honest...I didn't know that was even possible until I read up on this particular bike!

For those who didn't view the auction site....this is the work that was done on this bike by Kaplan's staff to get it ready for auction:

New Yuasa Battery

Fuel Tank Drained, Inspected and De-rusted

New OEM Fuel Petcock Assembly

New OEM Gas Cap & Keys

New Fuel Lines

New Fuel Filter

New OEM Fuel Tank Cushions

Carburetors Removed, Disassembled, Cleaned & Rebuilt

New Fuel Tube O Rings

Micro Drilled Pilot Jets

Fuel Screws Set

Fresh VP94 Non-Ethanol Fuel

Bled Clutch Master Cylinder with Fresh DOT4 Fluid

New OEM Replica Hand Grips

New Mirrors

New Ignition Switch Assembly

OEM Right Handlebar Switch Assembly

New RK Gold 530 Final Drive Chain

Set Tire Pressures

Complete 100% Check Over

Hot Water Pressure Washed, Polished & Degreased

Polished Hardware, Wheels, Forks, Controls, Fenders

Buffed Paint, Touched Up Engine, Etc.
=================

I suspect the bike didn't have a key which is why they changed out the gas cap and ignition.

As stated earlier, the 2 mirrors and front turn signals are after market and I will end up swapping those out for stock versions.

In the video it is mentioned it has two new Dunlop tires but I don't see that listed in the above list so we'll see when it arrives.

=========

I absolutely love the fact the fuel system was thoroughly gone through. The new grips and chain as well.

I can't wait to see if it will feel like my first VFR - the yellow '87 I bought back in the 90's....
