If the min wage goes to $20/hr for FF workers that tips the whole iceberg. Worker's comp is a percentage of earned wages so without dong j**** the ins cos get a windfall.

What this really means is less workers and more robots. Way to go to shoot yourself in the foot. The iceberg rolls over when the FF workers hit the unemployment office.

Do we send people to Harvard to learn this stuff?

Is this the thread where it was pointed out that self serve drinks are going away? If a factory can fill bottles and can cap them, then auto filling on a conveyor is child's play. Your order is in box #4.

Or the automated window opens and your order is sitting there. Oh, BTW, the left side compartment has a microwave in it so just as the order is being fed into the box, it gets zapped to the perfect temp. Then the door opens to you. Your hot mess is ready.

Not too different than how cattle and chickens are fed.

It's LBJ's fault .... A burger, fries and drink should be less than 75 cents at the one walk-up window under the golden arches.... and the sign....

Over 1 million sold

Did anyone else watch the numbers creep year by year? I did...

OK Jim......I finally had the Bar Harbor tonight.....and it was very good. I prepared it like I did the Snows.

Both of them are good, in my opinion. Which is better? I'll just have to continue evaluating on that question.

Enjoy!

The Habit Burger Grill & Automatic Tip Charge

Thanks for the heads up. Just came for dinner and I checked the receipt and got the same charge.

I went back to the register and looked at the menu, and don’t see any signs.

It looks like a 15% staff tip. Half expecting this, I added a 15% service tip. They can have one, not both.

I’m waiting for my food to be done before asking for the manager.

EDIT: I spoke the manager. There was only 1 charge applied, the one I initiated but for some reason, it shows up twice on the receipt with different labels so it appears to a double dip.

What’s more concerning is when I asked the cashier first, they thought I was referring to the sales tax and was trying to explain that as another state mandated service charge.

Yesterday after a visit with Mom I stopped at Pappas Drive-In for one of their Famous Burgers. It's right on the way home and with curb service very easy to order and take out (home). I usually get a side of cole slaw with it.

The total came to $9:05 and I gave her $15.05 so she'd get a $6 tip.

They make a good burger and the slaw is also very good.

I learned to save conversation (they always ask "Do you want cheese on it?") by ordering as follows: "One Famous burger....all the way....hold the cheese." My own little process to get the order in while saving extra time and convo.

Anywho......Brad Pitt was in town last week during the Rolex to film for a new movie and the production company chose this place (Pappas) to film some of the movie at. There's a laundromat next door and they needed to do a scene there as well.

The place was closed to the public for just over a week. They did some re-painting and re-decorating. Yesterday it was back to normal except the big white boards with the menu and daily specials was gone.

What's funny is the owner made new menus and changed the name of the Famous burger to Brad's Famous burger...lol....

Javier Bardem is also in the movie. I didn't take the last 2 photos. They were posted on FB.

Older photo showing the white menu board.....

The Habit got back to me and requested additional information. I replied back but have not heard back yet (of course it took me 3 weeks to reply back to them). I ended up not canceling my credit card charge since it was still in "pending" status on my bank and nothing can be done until its posted - of course I got lazy and did nothing.

Here is their response:

Dear Vern,

Thank you for reaching out to us. We are very sorry for the miscommunication with your order.

We would like to help you resolve this issue as soon as possible, however we will need some additional information. May you please provide us with the order total and last 4 digits of the credit card used? As well as the items that you were overcharged for?

Once provided with this information, we will connect you with a Customer Care manager.

Thank you for your patience.
