We just ate at Wahlburgers in Las Vegas last week and the burger was the best burger I have ever had.

there was a Shakeshack in Tokyo. my bud salivated and I said, no. just no.
I think he went with his wife. I'm just not into fast food. anywhere. I do have a road trip coming up very soon, and I will pull into a Whataburger for nostalgia's sake.

What I've found with McDonald's is you need to force freshness.
My go to order is a Quarter Pounder with cheese but using the app, I customize the order to add shredded lettuce, tomato slices, bacon and mayo plus the other stuff that typically comes with it. Small fries are enough for me, again they usually have medium and large tee'd up in the dispenser, small forces them to go back to the fryer. |

I don’t eat fast food at all, but I do love a Buc-ee’s brisket sandwich when I’m on a road trip….

Time to come clean.
The cook on my first ship was Filipino. The first time he made Lumpia, fresh, I knew one thing for certain: I was going to have that again. ![]() There is a place here, Nina's, that might as well be on Magsaysay Boulevard, that is fast food-ish. Headed there today!

For fast food...it's hard to beat Culvers Butterburgers.
Single patty deluxe Butterburger is my favorite.

When I was in Italy this past September, we stopped at a rest stop on the highway called Auto Grill. Everything there was amazing for a highway rest stop. They’re all over the place.
Here’s a sandwich that I had.

We tend to avoid most national fast food chains as they are nearly always a huge disappointment. I probably have not eaten at McDs for 4 years, ever since their prices doubled and service vanished. I don't miss it.
In the west- We still like In N Out for very fresh burgers and prices are reasonable. 2x per year maybe. In SoCal there is a small chain "Juan Pollo" with Mexican style rotisserie chicken. The food is always fresh, tasty, and reasonable. We can get a large family order to go and feed 12 people in a hurry for about $40. In rural Idaho/Montana there is what I shall call "gas station fried chicken counters". These are often run by local tribes and served with beans, rice and fresh flatbread. It is fast, very fresh and tasty. Local knowledge may be required to find the good ones.

Great burgers, mediocre fries. On a recent trip a friend took us to a place called "firehouse subs" that he was all excited about. $17 for a sub sandwich and I threw half of it in the trash and went looking for something to wash the taste away. They must buy onion powder in 55 gal drums. |
