The Indy 500 was part of the F1 Drivers championship in the 50's so all the top Indy drivers also scored F1 points.

Yes, he had 4 DNFs. But Senna had 6 DNFs!

I didn't know he did even that well. Only one year though, so someone was not happy. I think MA got the short end of the stick. I think I remember his car stopping on the first lap of a race or crashing out. Or both.

Michael had 4 DNFs 13 races. Yeah sure that's pretty close to the same. ![]() To be clear - Michael was a great Indy driver but he didn't do well in the crossover.

Why is the Indy Indy road race on Saturday? I caught it but just wondering. I actually thought it might be a double header. Nope.
Pretty good race after the boys got things sorted out. Maybe they should race with walls all around the track. That certainly alters their driving behavior. I'll bet Newgarden missed the 500 pit entrance attenuator by 6 inches after being moved over by Jack Harvey. He did hit his front tire to the rear of Harvey which damaged his wing. Staying out rendered 18th place. Sting Ray didn't do too bad though he and others were down a lap. Pourchaire was a rocket for being that new. I guess he kept his nose clean unlike Newgarden. Tires seemed to be an issue with a few cars. How can Power end up with only soft scuffs to finish? I thought those crew chiefs were immune to making mistakes like that. I thought Power drove one of his best races but didn't have anything to take a win, only 2nd. Only 2nd, well that's not too bad points wise. Speaking of points, I got the feeling Dixon was playing it very safe. With all the banging around He pretty much drove a clean race and took 4th. The championship standings got tossed around like bingo. Newgarden took the biggest hit. |

I'd like to see Herta do well this year.
He's thinking in more long term terms this year so his finish wasn't bad. Can't believe he ran out of gas during qualifying. Bet that won't happen again.

So I'm thinking that I seriously underestimated Kyle Larson.

Mid Ohio in July Indy sells out to hybrid racing. Another concession to technology over driving skills.

I would prefer Dixon or Sato as repeat winners. Rossi win would be popular too. A new winner would be good.

Rahal in 33rd! Rahal did a great interview talking all about how great the kid who didn't make it will be in the future.

New bellhousings were installed by Miami that accommodate the capacitors (not batteries). But they did postpone until mdi season for the hybrid to be run. Must be a handful since they announced the program in 2019.

Me too...1st time driving at Indy, and qualifies well? Obviously, not all Nascar drivers are one trick ponies. Larson one hell of a wheelman...period!

This makes no sense. Its the same unit for all cars. The cars should go faster and therefore put a greater premium on driving skills.

800 HP. One good reason to not have at Indy. Indy cars don't have push to pass on ovals. The extra HB juice works almost the same in the practical sense. Having both may be confusing to fans.
