I picked up a vintage 222, 26mm, for Mrs. Beard - Quartz, so I don't have to keep setting it! The rebuild was about the same as the cost, and it went to the homeland.

Can't go wrong with Vacheron (or many from the "Holy Trinity"). 222 is "again fashionable" as not too long ago a certain actor started wearing one and social media has jumped all over it.

This is the one I picked up for Mrs. Beard - 1970's two-tone - paid ~$4K, but it cost $4K to get it repaired. They replaced the crystal and the movement! Merry Christmas!!!

I think they did the dial and hands as well, plus restoring the case. It is basically a new watch. The Steel New 222 is about $35K. The New Gold is $81K. $8K, all in, I think I'm OK.

Vash the trick with that Speedy is once you put one on your wrist you will not forget just how nicely it wears.

My Rolex Pepsi, the newer version, always feels a little too small for me. But it is the most comfortable watch I own. I used to like bigger and I guess I still like looking at bigger ones. But they always are a tad less comfortable and/or more easily bang into stuff.
