Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes
Born in 67, I saw the 1968 original sometime in the late 70s, old enough to have been transfixed, probably around the time of Logan's Run, and of course the ending was stunning. I think I saw either the first remake or one of the early ones of franchise and wasn't impressed, haven't seen any others. Thought this one would be worth checking out. From a CGI perspective, it was. Story was reasonably good as well but it was just a basic movie, nothing magic or particularly interesting. Never on the edge of your seat. The orangutan character was a favorite, could have used more of him. The girl was just ok. The ending was appropriate for the story but it wasn't interesting in the slightest. I think the next one, which I probably will see only because this one sets up what could be a great movie. But the script will have to bear that out. Stream it when it's cheap unless you've been following the franchise up to this point.

What's wrong with posting these reviews in The MOVIE thread?

![]() ![]() I like the separate reviews. I keep a list, just like I do for some of the locations Glen posts so I can visit on my next walk-about, of movies that may be of interest when they are available on a stream. Carry on!

I only asked if separate threads were necessary vs in the movie thread and got a smart ass answer. Not interested in moderating, trust me. Maybe we should post separate threads for images, beautiful women, what we're listening to, what we're watching, and transportation photos. That's the logic here.

Steve, no smart assery was intended. A SA answer would have included you already posting about this issue on one of my movie review threads recently where Paul gave the same answer here in a post on that thread back then.
The MOVIE thread is for ALL movies. Movies from decades ago, current ones and trailers. If I wanted to know about a new movie that just came out, and wasn't subscribed to the thread, it would be difficult to find a review. If you were subscribed to the thread and only cared about new movies, you would be barraged with email updates on every single post. Just click on the last 2 pages of the MOVIE thread and you will see what I mean. Totally random and no reviews. The best thread for all new movies is, title TBD, "The movies that are in theaters now with reviews and commentary" thread. No one needs to be subscribed, anyone can click on the last page, maybe have to go the page before to find reviews and commentary on movies in theaters they are interested in seeing, when they click. And my posts are pretty rare. I saw 3 movies last week, only Kingdom warranted any kind of review. At most I post 4 times a month about movies I see, I suspect I'm not taxing any Pelican servers or making folks scroll and scroll to find a thread they want to read here on OT, with this volume. --- now that's smart ass.

Fair enough about all movies vs new releases- you only mentioned notifications six months ago in the Napoleon thread. I suppose if you need to subscribe to your own threads, it makes sense to create your own vs subscribing to a thread that resurfaces every few days. I just read stuff as it comes up on page 1 or 2. One can search the movie thread easily enough.
I interpreted "I can post them there too Steve" as SA. What was I thinking?
