It seems prices are depressed on stories of date wheel issues, this one falls after the likely problem (2018-mid 2020 or so) period AND Tudor extended warranty to 5 years so I'm good for 2 more years if it comes up. Watch shows some wear but that's fine by me and could be buffed up down the road if needed.

Y'all do seem to have a permanent jones for watches

I have a really pretty Seiko with a faceted crystal I have had 40 years. I bet I have not worn it in 25 years

My most recent purchase:

METAS which one-ups the COSC certifications.

It's a disease I tell you...

On the Seiko watches, I've built a bunch of NH35 and NH34 watches. I'm now diving into repairing the movements.

NH35 Explorer - Maybe $80 in parts

NH34 GMTs - maybe $120 in parts

These are Swiss ETA 2824-2 or Sellita SW200 movements. All Swiss parts and "Top" or almost COSC movements - About $600 in parts each

Delving into minor internal repairs, I'm learning to do a full rebuild.

Well my gmt seller is playing games and stopped responding. Ugh. I keep flipping back and forth to the Pelagos. AND I found a slightly used green seiko gmt for under $1k. Talk about complications!

You can get a very nice Glycine GMT for $500‐600

https://www.jomashop.com/glycine-combat-sub-sport-42-bronze-gmt-automatic-blue-dial-mens-watch-gl0317.html

There is also a Green Dial version.

And this is an "All Swiss" watch using the Sellita SW330-2, which is actually better than the ETA 2893! Awesome watch for the price!

Pelagos is my favorite of the Tudor line, its a modern interp on a dive watch with Ti and on the fly adjustable bracelet.

BB GMT is cool, but like all the BB is trying to look retro, especially with the fake bracelet rivits. Not really knocking it, cool watch, but my preference is for design honesty over retro inspired.

Unsolicited opinion of little value of course.

Yep, and it is working for them! Since they put out the Black Bay line, they have become a player, in the top 20 for both $ and delivered watches. They will never truly get out of the shadow of their big brother, but they make quality watches for a much fairer price, without the stupid games.

Well it’s no Rolex but I’m digging this. Waiting on additional link to put it back on the bracelet.

I still would like to try on a Pelagos but no way I’m willing to own both. Got this for a very reasonable price.

Rick I love the deep red on that. Those things appear to be money in the bank.

That Omega is better than a Pelagos. I am a Tudor fan, but the Pelagos is meh.

Red have you fiddled with regulating the Seiko 4r36? Mine seems to run about +36 per day and i'd love to get it down to 10 or better if possible.

Somewhat veering off topic i stumbled across Damasko watches online. Bunches of really sharp looking designs and apparently some good movements.

You need a timegrapher. They are ~$140 on Amazon for a Weishi 1000, which is fine.

Now to adjust the movement, take a look at this photo. This is what the movement looks like with the back off.

And here is a closeup of the adjustment mechanism

Ignore the Beat Error for now.

The real regulation is done with the lower arm. It works for big adjustments. For fine adjustments, I put a screwdriver on the little pointing nub and turn the screwdriver. It doesn't take much.

Take a look at Wicked Watch. They use both Japanese and Swiss movements. The more expensive are Swiss.

Also look at Dufrane out of Austin TX. They are even offering a GMT

My 6809-7290 needs servicing. Where do you all send your automatic Seikos?

I use a local guy in Houston for what I can't do, or an Authorized dealer for my watches under warranty. I am starting to work on the movements.
