BaT is great if you’re a seller. When buying, you’re up against enthusiasts from around the planet. Many of which have no financial limitations if it comes to getting the car or bike they want. I’ve bid well beyond the common sense level on some motorcycles and are almost always outbid. Best bet is to buy local, then sell on BaT when the time comes.
I’ve also bought and sold a car there one time each and did ok. Sold to a guy in Russia. Broke even and had a toy to play with for about a year. My gripe is the requests for hard-to-obtain pictures (a riding photo with two people on the bike, close-up of a detail that requires a lift/wheel removal, etc., request for obscure documents, paint thickness readings, pics of compression gauge while testing, etc)…..then disappear and never bid. |

I also look at Pcarmarket... But realistically the price of cars lately make it more likely I switch to stamp collecting ;( |

I will say that they have had a large part in driving air cooled 911 prices through the roof because of their reach and just the general FOMO that drives that market. Motorcycle prices are usually fair…I bought my 1970 Triumph Bonneville on BaT back in 2020 and the price was in line with what the bike was represented as. |

Honestly, I think you've alienated a lot of members here with your relentless touting of the Bullitt as the best overall car to have. You've oversold it, along with the pool stuff. I'd lighten up on it. There's more to the world than Bullitts and pool. Just my opinion. |

There are few people here who think their lives/cars/hobbies/opinions are a lot more interesting than they really are, but we can always choose to not read their posts. I will cut Paul some slack. He is/was a car guy and tool guy. 👍 |
My 86' turbo look is on BAT. I sold it 2 years ago and Mark the current owner has it on BAT now.

RoW 1986 Porsche 911 Carrera M491 Current Bid: $64,000 Ends in 4 days =============== Thanks for bringing it to our attention, Ted. Your post on the auction site in the comments section was very generous of you, Ted. The auction site is nicely done too and I really enjoyed the stereo demo! Seems like almost every Porsche I ever bought had a cassette stereo in it! What a gorgeous machine.....I hope she ends up with the right owner! Ted's comments: I was the 2nd owner of this car, I owned it for almost 20 years. I bought it from the original owner in Anaheim California. The first owner was a lady that drove it locally in Orange County. I bought it and enjoyed it for many years. After owning it for several years I gave it to my good friend Vic Ofner for restoration. After Vic completed a 4 year restoration on the car we drove to a Rennsport Reunion. After 2 years of owning and rarely driving the restored Porsche I was introduced to Mark the current owner/seller. After confirming history, documentation and restoration specifics through Vic Ofner and with the Porsche certificate completed Mark bought the Porsche. The car is completely stock. Yes all the AC hoses, original style compressor and dryer are new. Vic Ofner has a long history with Porsche and I always enjoy sharing the fact that Vic after training at the factory stayed on with Porsche building privateer 962 engines. One of Vic’s 962 engines came in second at Le Mans. This is a beautiful car that is honest and guaranteed to please it’s new owner with years and years of reliable fun. Mark has had it a couple years but only added about 600 miles a year. Both Vic and Mark are very detailed oriented car experts so I am sure this Porsche is just as nice as the day Vic restored it. Happy to answer any questions? So you have a handsome sports car and 2 of the 3 owners here to answer your questions. My advice would be to talk to Mark the seller or Vic Ofner the Porsche master mechanic that restored it. Yes the autobahn stock 5th provides low rpm effortless cruising at 80/85mph. |

I bought a car on BaT today, I need another car like a hole in the head but it was so cheap and close to me that I had to bid. I couldn’t believe that no one fought harder for it.

Honda S2000 cars go for a small fortune if they are collector quality.

I don’t get the S2000 hype. Someone please educate me. Is it the numbers made?
|
Small, manual transmission, convertible sports car that revs like crazy with Honda engineering, build quality and reliability, accepts modifications from mild to wild yet still looks good today?
|
s2000s are great cars, but no longer worth the money. i raced one for years in STR, penskes, OS gieken, 17x9s ... the works. great cars. anyone who thinks the handling is tricky on the AP1s can't wheel. the car put down power like nothing ive ever driven RWD. it hooked and went.
that being said, a 10k miata can absolutly clean its clock in 99% of cases. my STS miata just ****ing smoked it, and thats doesnt even let you put in OS gikens, or even a torsen in back. a good NA6/8 with a torsen will out drive it. with almost any money into an NB your killing the s2000. as good as they are to drive, there are so many ways to get that drive without the money. mr2 spyders would be another car that gives you similar drive for way less money, i also had one of those. and if your spending good s2000 money (20-50k) ... the hard thing to do would be to not by a lotus Elise. |

For me, if it were closer than the east coast. I like my '09 Bullitt Mustang, but at age 81, clutch work has become problematic for me. Since Bullitts are priced at a premium over the premium GT's, I'd then sell it to a guy on the Mustang board who wants it, buy this with the automatic, and have a car I'd drive more often. Current bid $12,250 with an hour to go. A loaded GT with only 24K miles?
Yep, somebody is going to end up with a hellofa nice driver for not much money.. (edit) Sold $18,300. A bit higher than I thought it would go. Still, bang for the bucks? Find something at that price better? Hmmmm. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/CZxoCXEKeLo" title="Showcasing our 24k-Mile 2009 Ford Mustang GT Premium Coupe" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
Wow, only $18.3k?
That would be a fly in and drive it home type of car, even though it's an east coast car. Underside looked like it'd never seen salt or snow. I hear you on the auto vs stick too. Wore my knee out driving sticks to work, stop 'n go on the 405. |
You know......I already have enough toys, so wouldn't be interested in another from B.aT. or other platforms.
This may sound a bit goofy......but my '02 Silverado has made me happier over the past 19 years of ownership than any of my other vehicles. And now that it is getting long in the tooth......if anything.....I might be inclined to grab another as similar to it as possible, if one came up in better condition with lower mileage. Here's one that just sold for ~$16K in September. Doesn't have the full 8' length bed, but I could live with that (I think ;)). I also like my White color....but guess I could live with this one in Light Pewter Metallic. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2002-chevrolet-silverado-1500-31/ <iframe width="718" height="404" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ji5TkiZR4NI" title="2002 Silverado low mileage survivor." frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> |

I’m still driving my 2500hd Silverado ‘03. Other than brakes it’s been a great truck. |

My friend Hank has one just like that in the auction site with 120k on it. Runs like a top, but he has the cloth interior and shell on the back.
|
I loved my 04 2500hd Sierra. Awesome truck to drive long distances.
It was a 6.0 vortec truck and it really didn't like pulling a trailer through the mountains. If it was a duramax truck, I would still have it. Its paint colour was Silver Birch. Truck never looked dirty. I have to stop looking at these BaT threads.... |
As someone who listed and didn’t sell two cars on BAT, it’s a strange experience. In hindsight I probably over shared details without prompting and would have been better off letting the BAT commenters ask questions and probably miss 50% of the pertinent details. Personally I would never buy a car there unless it was close enough to personally inspect, just like all auctions they are designed to magnify your enthusiasm and minimize criticism. Also despite popular opinion, even high resolution photos can hide a LOT.
