Yes.

The older I get (I'll be 67 in a few months), the attributes of comfort and reliability take on greater importance, so notwithstanding Shaun's cute-but-snarky Ann Taylor comment (why he favored her over Gloria Vanderbilt is anyone's guess), I think the SC is worth consideration.

Trust me, I am taking both Gloria and Ann shopping

I am 67, soon to be 68 and, skip to 2:10.

I really like the 430. Your recommendation is exactly why I posted here. Everyone is so shy and retiring

Back when I was a manicurist .... I had an SC400 for several years ... a fantastic car. After I found my Carrera .... I made my gf a "sweetheart deal" and threw in my lacy driving panties too .

I also had a new '87 Supra Turbo with a Targa top as a youngin' ....

Both were awesome, reliable, cars...

Interesting and beautiful.

The next year is going to be getting the house in SC in order. We have been working with a great group of folks down there. End of this month our last Pony gets trailered to my sisters place, a 1/4 mile away and we start moving the vast amount of stored furniture my sister, my wife and my daughter have...it is really quite something.

Then the "plant" gets fixed, siding and windows, etc.

That said, if I pulled the trigger on a weekend ride before the house gets sorted, I'll need a place to stay

Give me three steps...

I follow most Porsche on BaT, this just ended, I think no sale. Not a bargain needing a clutch and IMS, but a fair price (reserve is probably $20K) and since those two jobs are sort of the same job, it would be a bargain once they are done, service & parts price included IMHO. Plenty of fish in the sea too. Time is on your side here.

Seeing you guys brought up the "Coxster" (thank Jeremy Clarkson for that) I'll link you to a column he did on the Top Gear website. If you are a fan of TG it'll get a chuckle or two out of you. For those of you who may get offended..... don't worry this is all in good fun.

LMAO!

I've got Boxster RS60 sitting out front. It's excellent. I actually enjoy my 84 mile commute in it.

Those little Mercedes with the V8 are fun.
XK8
One thing I like about a lot of the newer cabs, they seem to have reduced a lot of the turbulence.

I’ve never been a fan of the CLK, even though I am a die hard MB guy. They just always seemed like a lesser car from the worst years of Mercedes, also the shared w210 E-class styling. That said, the one in the link is almost certainly the nicest one in the country and sold for $18k+ a 5% buyer’s fee! Holy ****, that is truly pennies in the BaT world. The guy who sold it consistently offers the nicest used Mercedes-Benz cars in existence and has sold two showroom condition 1995 E300 diesels like mine for 6-figures.

Call me odd but I really like the styling of the BMW Z4 and I think that a good one would be a great car. The Lexus is far from sporty but holy balls, what a great car. One of those would absolutely crush any MB in terms of build quality. Once again, coming from a MB guy.

I would also look into a nissan 240sx s13 if you can find a stock one. The convertables are generaly spared by the drifter crowd. They are a better car then a miata more roomy and comfortable. I had some time in a z3 M its a good car but yeah the stuff that comes along with a modern aging bmw is not so fun

Paul, I think Tim may have found the perfect solution. Find a couple of good ones and test drive them.

It should be a good fit for your height, but make sure the top of your head doesn't poke out above the top of the windshield frame like Selleck's did much of the time in his 308.

That is a great offer but I am a year or so out. This car will be for South Carolina and we are in the process of getting the SC place in order.

Again, thank you so much for the great gesture!

I am going to...I had not considered it.

Selleck you say?
