That’s not a cheap one. That’s an expensive one.

Nice.VVV Pic left!

From your post on the Boxster thread, I had "custody" of my DV friends 997 convertible, brought it here, and had folks who know what they are doing take a look at it. I say "custody" because with junkies you have to be specifically legal in every exchange.

After a very thorough and brutal walk through from my guys, I decided it was best I not stay involves and to him my friend sell it...he agreed. After sitting for years, the maintenance punch list equated to the GDP of the Maldives.

A manual Boxster and the other suggestions have been great. Thanks.

This is essentially the car I could have bought 7 or 8 (or maybe 10-12, who knows) years ago for $11K though it was an 01. It was fast and nice to drive but a little soulless compared to an air cooled 911, but then only a 240Z comes close in that regard so just a modern nice little sports car.

Will be interesting to see what it goes.

shaun, I enjoy your definitive responses to stuff. To think I actually thought other cars besides old 911’s and 240Z’s had soul. 😀

Cars are a great metaphor for the soul. Each one is unique and cherished, sometimes, by it's owner. A car takes you places but you control IT. You can drive it fast or slow, take turns, put on the brakes or put your right foot down, and keep it down. The car must obey.

Car, driver, a matched pair.

This is true for the body and the soul. The soul drives the body, takes it to places unique and precious to it. The soul makes the body experience life just as the driver controls the car. The body must obey the soul.

Body, soul, a matched pair.

Matching the soul with the car, nirvana.

Paul, I saw this beauty go for $7500 Friday afternoon during the Mecum Summer Special on Motor Trend.

I probably don't need to tell you this, but be sure to check around for a trusted indie mechanic/shop in the Aiken/Augusta area before you go huntin' no matter which make you decide on. I found one for my E39 by checking with local BMW owners I scrounged up on the BMWCCA website.

We have been moving "stuff" to South Carolina in batches, getting the place ready for friends and family to use before we move/move.

I had a meeting last week in Clinton, TN so I taak a bunch of things down then drove to Clinton.

On my way out of Aiken, I see this place: Car Cave.

For you West Coast folks this is a blip, but for Aiken, SC it is really great to have.

I spoke with the owner and they work on Land Cruisers, love the Series 80. I will meet him in person to look at other cars the first week in September.

The journey continues!

That place has very cool cars. Love the Fiat 131 Abarth Rally.

Met with them last week. Great guy.

That said, I have driven a lot of older convertibles and I think that may not be where I am headed in SC.

So, Jeep Gladiator...I know there are some folks here that own one and I am curious about real world experiences.

When we move to SC, the 1/2 ton Tundra gets sold and I was going to downsize into a traditional, smaller truck, Maverick, Tacoma, Ranger, etc. The house we bought does not require a 1/2 ton to manage.

But, since I still have some hair, I'd like wind in it and a/c blasting. The Gladiator, in convertible, looks like a very positive option for the beach kayak days, small truck stuff. etc.

I can do the reliability stuff on the web. I drove a new one yesterday and it was a pleasure for the 20 minute test drive...I am just looking for impressions from owners.

Thanks in advance.
