I guess it depends where you live. Around here they are kinda the most expensive cars running around and there isnt that many. The richest people drive them. Any car made in the past 10 years seems prestigious to me. Our newest vehicle is 25 years old

IMHO, it's more a vehicle for the sanctimonious than it is a prestigious marque.

Not at all. Fresh new brand that has done some great things, but prestigious, no.

prestigious brands don't make pick up trucks. Muhahahaha

I come across most Tesla driver to be slow, very slow and poor drivers yet they are all over the place.

Meh, it's just someone's opinion and value system.

hah

someone somewhere thinks the Colored Strobing LEDs mounted along the length of their windshield wiper blade synch'd to music is the coolest thing in the world..........Try going to Japan, Philippines, India or other world wide locations. Your "thoughts of good taste" would be blown to bits.

Who are we to judge?

A friend of mine son (whom I have known since he was single digit age) he a upper manager at Lucid Motors, and he was educating me about EVs, now, he has grown up in a Porsche environment, helped his father building his 1st race car, owns a new GT4 and still has the 914 he built 30 years ago, so he has petrol in his veins. But he has been on the tech side of the industry for a while now, and has grown with it. Of course he has a Lucid company car,
https://lucidmotors.com/gravity
But bought a Rivian when it came time to replace his Titan. Do you realize how much ice and beer you can fit in the front trunk, enough for 12 hours of tailgating at the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, and power everything the group brings. There's a lot of new technologies coming to the table. You have to love the idea that a car company put the welfare of pets forward with a option to keep the AC running and you can see, control everything through your phone.

The Porsche he and his father built like 30 years ago.

Which will probably go to his Son.
And his newest Porsche.

When I bought my S, it was the only EV in the game, that I thought was a nice looking car and had decent range. After 100K miles, it's been a fantastic car and other then tires, has been essentially maintenance free. I still enjoy driving it. Based on our experience with my Model S, my wife bought a model 3. It's been OK.

When I bought my car, it was the right car for my needs at that time. Prestige wasn't a consideration.
I'll take the word of a guy who owns them. As long as they fit your lifestyle, why not?

Edited. No reason.

It used to be.
Prestige is basically price and exclusivity.
Teslas used to all be very expensive and relatively low volume, prior to 2018 and the introduction of the 3 and Y.
But I don’t think Tesla long term ever intended to be a “prestige” brand, the intent was/is to be very high volume, low cost options, availability to as many people as possible, robotaxis, etc.

We’ve had nothing but BMW, Mercedes and Porsche for 35 years. My wife said she’d never want an EV. We borrowed a relative’s Model 3 for a few weeks a few years ago. Now we have our own and she’d never go back to gas.

They are much, much better cars than the (now) anti-Musk media likes to lead people to believe.

Pretty much a dime-a-dozen around here.

To me its pretty hard to call anything "prestigious" anymore . Especially when it comes to vehicles. A new P/U ins some cases, can cost double what some " luxury" vehicles. People have car payments as high as some mortgages, and live like paupers to afford the car they drive. The last thing that impresses me, is what someone drives ( as far as off the lot/dealer vehicles goes...)

Yep, Houston is like that. Teslas everywhere. I've seen a bunch of cyber trucks and I don't drive in Houston that much. I've seen Lucid's, Rivians, Taycans, etc....

I haven't seen this one, but it's somewhere in Houston...

I was the same way. The most eco I would have ever gone would have been hybrid. However, I was killing time at the mall a few months ago and walked into Tesla. I've been in the store many times before just browsing, but never drove one. I struck up a convo with a salesguy and he said I should go for a test drive. He gives me the card, and off I go! Wow, I thought this car was a revelation! It was smooth, quiet, comfortable and well made, unlike what all the naysayers were saying. I ordered one that day and it arrived at the end of April. I bought the car for my gf because I knew she would like it, but she is always hesitant to try new things. So, I drove it for a couple months and liked it. Last night she was saying how quiet and comfortable the car was and easy to park compared to the Audi A5 Sportback.

It is an appliance, but many feel it is a prestigious car. I think it is more of an aspirational car that is attainable. Now, what I really miss about the Tesla is not having to go to gas stations. Come home, plug in and you're good to go. I am now looking at lightly used Model Y Performances to replace my Alfa. It will be used for daily duties and hauling stuff like wheels/tires, tools and other car parts. For me it would fit the bill. Why get rid of the Alfa? Long story, but my dealer dropped the line and there is no one here to service/repair them.

My friends were getting one and I was interested. Asked if they were falling for the full self driving and yeah they’d paid for it, $5k? I told them I thought it was a scam - they can’t possibly deliver.

5 years later still no fsd and to me you can’t be prestigious if you lie to your customers.

They have a model 3, it’s ok to ride in but it’s been in the shop a bunch. The guy is still really into it so the cult aspect is interesting to observe. Some delusion.

I think they’re pretty much garbage. I’d much sooner pay for an electric ford - in my book a much more prestigious brand.
