He goes out at night hunting for them. He can smell them in the ground as they are close to emerging. He will dig them up, and gobble them down. And I have little meteor craters in my back yard from his excavations.

![]() Here in Texas we have Quesada gigas (Giant Cicadas). I hear them almost every evening in the summer. I usually only hear one or two at a time. They are much louder than the regular cicadas, and they sound different. From a distance, they sound like a whistle. Not my pic ![]() We also have lots of "regular" cicadas. I've also seen some surprisingly small cicadas here, where the body is ~1/2" long.

Yes, it did, and yes it was a thing. I live in the city of Chicago and we got absolutely nothing. If I hadn't read about it, and gotten pics and video from a friend in the suburbs, I could have gone thorugh most of it never knowing it existed. Went on a ride up the north shore one weekend and was finally exposed to it. It was loud. Video from a friend in Wheaton, and it was practically deafening. Piles of them on the ground by trees, her dog loved them.
