Recaro Filed For Bankruptcy
Just saw a news flash; per thedrive.com, that Recaro automotive filed for bankruptcy.
|
Does this mean the value of a used pair of Recaro's in good condition like these will go up? :)

Is there separation between automotive and aviation?
Recaro makes seats for airlines. Each order being a few hundred sure sounds more profitable than two at a time for sports cars. |
Ugh.
I hope they don't get sold to a Chinese investor, and hollowed out. rjp |
That's a crying shame, but it's also another milepost of the times, I suppose. Sad day for Porsche fans.
Founded in 1906 and was instrumental in building both the original VW Type 1 and the production Porsche 356. Morphed into Recaro. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1722367365.jpg |
Cars have gotten more complicated. It isn't just a matter of choosing seats, rails and going at it.
If it was, I'd own a set. Love 'em but God help you with integration with a new car. rjp |

I miss the 80s...

China/PE money- is there really any difference? Neither group strives to build a great product.

Corporate shows Recaro Holdings owning the name/rights and operating Aero Unit with Recaro Automotive being operated by a licensee. Will be interesting to see who actually filed for BK

Strange as one would think there would be plenty of work out there to supply seats. |
I firmly believe in making sure things feel right so you’re more comfortable with them. So I’m particular about my helmet and seat among other things. Shoei helmets always felt right and now that Shoei doesn’t sell auto helmets, I’ve found that Simpson feels right. Same goes for seats. I’ve sat in several racing seats and Recaro just feels right so I have them in my Cayman and 930. I sure hope they come out of this still making racing seats if nothing else.

Wow that’s surprising, very niche market that they were the best at, was it bad management?

it's the automotive seat business sadly, not the aircraft seat business... :(
"Reports have begun to surface that automotive seat supplier Recaro has filed for bankruptcy — much to the surprise of its 215 employees who are said to have been “waiving and postponing wages” for years in order to stabilize the company. Following the filing by Recaro on July 29, the IG Metall trade union stated the future of its employees is currently uncertain, as is the fate of the company. At the time of writing, there is little information available regarding whether or not the company will be sold or dissolved. Additional reports indicate that this financial state only affects Recaro Automotive, the department that produces OEM and aftermarket seating for car brands. Recaro’s business in creating seating for aircraft as well as lifestyle applications, like office chairs and gaming seats, will continue as normal for the time being. An official transparency statement on the matter is expected to be released soon." |
