When I was a kid on the farm there was a “dead truck” that came around and picked up large animal carcasses. The carcasses were taken to a rendering plant and turned into fertilizer. They don’t do that anymore?

Not much left to "render" in lunchmeat. They still have rendering plants but most charge to take a carcass.
In Pa lived not far from one. It stunk like all get out. There was a large meatpacker nearby that would send over 40 ft dump trailers with cow carcasses 2-3x a day.

Still do but it costs $300 to have the carcass picked up. Ranching and subsidizing everyone else’s rib eyes is bad enough with this cost.

Bone pile FTW!

Loved going to college in Eastern Washington during hot summer nights at the Drive-in Movie with the car windows rolled down..............with the Rendering Plants' smokestack churning full steam a block away.

the rendering plant here was instrumental in disposing of bodies - for Robert Pickton, the Canadian serial killer.

They do, blood meal fertilizer…
