Nothing aggressive looking about them. I could see as a turn off to some. I think As a teenager I likely would have liked the wings, splitters and stuff that the new cars have. The old me says “ah, a bit much”. Nice all these varieties exist.

I think several of the most recognizable, aesthetically well loved vehicles have a feminine quality. E-Type Jags, all curves and chrome and sex appeal. Similar with 911s, like the early cars, G-body cars with flares, turbos with more flares. There's a reason that folks talk about, especially the turbo flared models, having hips and butts. Even all of the roundness on things like the older Ferraris like the 250 GTs. Lots of feminine attributes to the shapes.

Things like most of the modern Lamborghinis are not remotely feminine, but Porsche has retained that over the years. The GTx models often butch things up a bit.

fun, bubbly, silly, cartoonish, serious, all subjective adjectives, likely the result in many ways of a mindset/notion being projected onto the vehicles due to some perception.

I think we're all completely happy for you to have your opinion. But that's what it is, opinion.

If you start throwing around facts, great, that will be different.

bro we are talking about if a car is fun or not.

thats, BY DEFINTION, a subjective experience.

the notion that you could objectively measure fun, is very german, very porsche, and not at all fun. a key reason why these cars are not fun. also their owners being like "fun is not objective, therefore i dont care about it" is also a key reason why these cars are not fun.

I agree Steve on the 991 and later GT2/3 cars being more hard looking.

Another reason why the 997 models will continue to retain their value in my opinion, even the GT2/3 911s are curvy. I love the widebody on mine.

I love the exterior styling of a 996S with aero kit.
Guards red with tan interior please.

But I have a hard time getting a 996 when I compare the inside to my bit kitty.

The 997 has a problem for me in that it neither seems small nor big, it rides what seems to me to be an awkward middle ground.

The 996 still has that small car look to it.

911boost 08-16-2024 10:21 AM

The 996 and 997 are both about the same, with the 997 being an inch longer depending on model and the 996 being about 7 inches longer than the 993.

Visually the 996 does look longer dimensionally I think as well.

Definitely wish I could have kept this garage line up, but one had to go.

Haven't ready through the auction but seems like a good deal. Replacement motor car.

Shaun, it’s a tip. I like tiptronic but I know some, cough cough don’t. Sure is a good looking car.

speeder 08-19-2024 02:39 PM

997 cars just don't get any slower or heavier than that 4WD, slush box wide body. Hard pass.

That explains the price, thanks. There's this one

43k-Mile 2011 Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe 6-Speed

and this one

28k-Mile 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S Coupe 6-Speed

that will be interesting to see where they end up

My prediction is all 996, 997, 991, and 992 Porsche 911's are going up in value.

You can argue on which one, but you need to buy it soon. All Porsche 911s are engineered tp last forever.

Top dollar

What do you think my old my old 2020 Porsche 911 3.4L 992.1 would be worth today?

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1724112610.jpg

The MSRP was $106K.

I would say it depends on model/options and more importantly the gearbox.

Meteor Grey (as I see it) is a great time tested color.

fastfredracing 08-19-2024 04:40 PM

Silver kills it for me also . It is the least flattering color on 996 and up cars .

Shaun @ Tru6 08-19-2024 04:55 PM

silver only really works on longhoods imho

Vintage Racer 08-19-2024 06:13 PM

You will be glad to know that my new 2025 Porsche 911 is not in gray.

Could not disagree more. Silver can be liable to not age well if left out in the sun too much but I like silver on all 911 cars and much more on the newer ones than older ones. Same with white...very tired looking color on older cars but looks great on new ones.

I was offered a 1970 911E coupe in silver once that was pretty tired looking. Still, it's one that got away. :(
