im surprised for the dislike of eyes wide shut.

I think its a great study in fear, and the real world effects of your fantasies. he is driven by his wife's admission of infidelity fantasy to explore his own fantasies and he finds them, in reality, to be much more terrifying and traumatizing than he initially thought.

i would think this place would love a story like that. i enjoy it because often when i talk about some of the things i do in my private life, there is a lot of that kind of thing from people who dont have the experiences of having done these kinds of things.

I enjoyed the movie also. I certainly wouldn't pan it, but that doesn't mean others need to like it. As my daddy would say, "there's an ass for every seat."

I have only seen a few of his movies, but Kubrick movies tend to be a bit odd/unusual (dare I say, weird).

I feel like his movies are like an unusual, strongly flavored food. A lot of folks may not like it, but the folks that do like it will probably love it. A bit of an acquired taste...

Zoolander is a fantastic film. Been meaning to watch eyes wide shut as an adult. Love most of Kubricks movies, but the last time I saw it I was a hormone ravaged teenager without the internet and I think I had ulterior motives.

bite your tongue. The "brain fog" scene kills me every time,

A true bad movie is one which bores the viewer that "disaster movie" with Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts, Kevin Bacon, at al. was grade A garbage--can't even remember the name. because it was garbage.

I watched that Kubrick movie one time and it made perfect sense, said not one person ever.

Eyes Wide Shut is well done. It ain't Dr Strangelove but with all his movies it has to be watched three to lots and lots of times.

yeah, there is always some strangeness to his movies for sure. even with a pretty solid understanding of what happens in eyes wide shut, there is still some stuff that is confusing/baffling. like does she die? i dont think you can conclusively argue she actually dies, or not.

i love dr strangelove, its one of the best dark comedies of all time.

Dr strangelove is easily on my top 5 movie list of all time, maybe near the top. I recently rewatched 2001 with my 12yo son, he was bored out of his gourd and I was loving every second.

For me unwatchable is fantasy: starwars, lord of the rings, most comic book movies

Eraser Head, Kentucky Fried Movie, Stranger Than Paradise, Mulholland Drive - just a few of the movies that I've watch more than once but found myself in an almost empty theater by the time they were half through.

A Man Called Otto is the only big screen movie that I've seen lately that I liked. I can't stand
"action" movies and there hasn't been a good western since Open Range.

You guys are all too deep (moviewise) for me. I really liked this one. A romance comedy ("chick flick") with lots of guns and violence. Mr Right (but you have to be at least 18).

I went through this entire thread trying to think of the name of that movie. In the words of Blaine Edwards and Antoine Merriweather "Hated it" I just couldn't watch it.

I was checking out Amazon Prime and came across "Crazy On The Outside" starring Tim Allen. It also stars Sigourney Weaver, Ray Liotta, Kelsey Grammer, J.K. Simmons and Jeanne Tripplehorn.

Decent cast, should be good.

Boy what a crapshow it turned out to be. Still don't know what Tim Allen was incarcerated for, why would a probation officer fall in love with an ex-con that quick, weird flashbacks, etc.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1196134/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

Talk about a waste of time, I hadn't seen anything that crummy since Donnie Darko.
