Dave Alvin once said that Dwight Yoakum bought him a Porsche when he agreed to cover this song.

I posted this while back on "what are you listening to" thread, but, one does not simply sing a Steve Winwood cover.
I'm Ron, and this other Ron does it well. Low budget, in his basement as a hobby, adding guitar overdubs like another Ron I know, but most importantly, he brings a new element to the song. At the time, he really was "Near the end" He passed away relatively soon thereafter. It was his swansong.

I like this guy Tony Clef. He records in his room, great acoustic covers. This is an early one..

Margo said that song paid for her house.
“Songs of the Recollection” is all covers I believe. My favorite is a cover of "The Way I Feel," a Gordon Lightfoot song. Their cover sounds so different (and much better than the original):

Speaking of Margo, this version of Supernatural written by Vic Chesnutt is beautiful and haunting, something the CJ's do effortlessly

Some of my favorite kinda-recent covers. Are they better than the original? You decide...

One of the most beautiful songs ever. Neil got everything out of it.

Not the first Leonard Cohen song here, and possibly not the last. Dude was like Bob Dylan, a great songwriter but not a greater singer...
Johnette adds a whole heaping pile of viciousness to this song
