It uses many of the usual surfactants that you find in most detergents. That's why it cleans so well. It rinses well so it doesn't leave much behind but as it rinses well those chemicals do end up in the water tables.

Great for installing door seals in airplanes as well.

Haha. I put another 20k mikes on it. I still have it. I road-trip w my dog in it and it’s my dedicated kayak fishing truck. It gets better mpg than the new one. Looking more rough tho.

Cant pull the trigger on selling it after i had the body shop fix it.

First, if you want to clean glass with dawn, add a few drops of good pure isopropranolol alcohol, 90% or better. Wipe and wipe and wipe until the streaks go away. This comes from someone who cleaned research telescope mirrors...

Second, we used Dawn to clean metal parts before anodizing. Ask Shaun...anodizing requires CLEAN parts. A good hard mechanical scrubbing with Dawn and then distilled water leaves NOTHING on metal.

I've been using Dawn dish soap in a spray bottle for several years now. It's what a window tint guy recommended for cleaning my windows after having tint installed. I avoid putting alcohol in only because of the tint. Another thing that can be added is dishwasher Jet dry. It's supposed to make the spray streak free without hand drying. I've used the mixture on skid loaders before. Take your window game up a notch with some waffle towels or some ultra fine microfiber towels. AFAIK, there's nothing inside a vehicle that a light mixture of Dawn and water can't clean safely.

It will dry out car paint like crazy. Beware.

911 Rod 10-02-2024 06:54 AM

I use it to clean the grime off car parts to keep the dirt out of my parts cleaner.
In a sink like dishes.

I've heard it was pretty good at washing OC spray from your eyes..

I'm thinking you meant isopropanol? Also, newspaper works really well on glass as compared to regular paper towels.

Good morning everyone! Hope everyone is well.

I’ve spent $ on various cleaners. I don’t know how many times Dawn comes in and just does a better job. . . Palmolive should just tap out. Dawn soap is a multitasker

Vash approved.

Good enough for me.

I'll bet the coffee grounds are even better than the sawdust!

I'm betting you guys would press your nose and forehead into those mirrors as a joke!

Nice!

Speaking of dish washing liquids in general. When you pull up at the lights and some fella wants to squirt water on your windscreen and clean it. Don't let him. He hasn't gone out and bought windscreen cleaner, he's taken dish washing liquid from the hostel and is using that. It is very acidic and runs in and around your windscreen seal and rusts it out.

Is Dawn better than Palmolive for soaking yer nails?

Asking for a friend :D

You are correct Mike I use a ton of Dawn Platinum every month, but no scrubbing on chrome-level polished window frames, just a super soft microfiber fleece in a wash bucket full of Dawn and water. Caressing the frame to wash off polish residue, hot water rinse and blow dry, it's 99% ready to go.

greglepore 10-02-2024 04:48 PM

Bicycle guys use it in their ultrasonics, run it for a bit first to degas and then throw the parts in. Better and safer than most solvents.
